Copp Park

Fido and his family will love spending time at the Central Bark Dog Park at the Copp Family Park. The fenced off-leash park is in the Copp Park neighborhood and features a separate area for smaller dogs. Your pooch can run around and play a game of fetch while you chat with neighbors at the shaded benches. The park even provides doggie waste bags for your convenience, and garbage cans are located inside the area. Outside the park, you and your pup can get even more exercise walking along the trails and around the lake. If you are looking for a great place to spend the afternoon, you and Fido will not be disappointed here.

Nautilus Park

Many military families and their pups enjoy living in the Nautilus Park neighborhood and visiting the community parks. Both Nautilus Park and Romanella Park are located in the subdivision, and offer space to walk Fido and enjoy nature. If you are looking for a spot to enjoy a staycation, head over to the American Legion Campground. You can pitch a tent with your pup and enjoy the weekend fishing or canoeing. With over 3,900-acres of land, there is plenty of room to get away from all the stresses of life and enjoy some fresh air and beautiful scenery. If camping is not your idea of a good time, check into the Ramada Inn Groton where you and Fido can spend the night in one of the pet-friendly rooms.

Groton Beach

Spending time in the Groton Beach neighborhood offers opportunities to hang out at the Eastern Point Beach and enjoy the view. Pups and their owners can stroll along the water, and the kids can play in the fenced playground area. If you need a snack, there are food vendors along the beach where you can grab a hot dog and relax with your pooch on one of the benches. You can admire the lighthouses, or take the Ferry across the water. The area is well-lit and safe even at night, so plan to take Fido for a walk in the moonlight and spend some quality time together.

Groton Long Point

If you and your pooch enjoy hiking, plan a day at the Bluff Point State Park in the Groton Long Point neighborhood. Try your hand at saltwater fishing, or just spend time exploring the trails. You will need to keep Fido on a leash, and know that dogs are not allowed on the beach during the prime season. Walking along the shaded trails will give your pup plenty of exercise, but make sure to bring your water bottles. After spending the day hiking, head over to Dairy Queen where you and Fido can enjoy some cold ice cream and relax at the outdoor tables.

Noank

A fun adventure awaits at Haley Farm State Park in the Noank neighborhood. This Fido-friendly park covers 267-acres and preserves Colonial-era farmland. You and your pooch can explore the scenic shoreline farm, or walk or ride along the bike trail that stretches 7.5 miles from Groton to Mystic. You and the family can cross over the pedestrian bridge and enjoy the scenery along the path. Fido will love sniffing the plants and rolling in the long grass. You will need to bring your own water bottles and doggie waste bags.
