North River Beach
The North River Beach area overlooks Upper Peoria Lake and features calm water views and a gorgeous coastal area. Home to eateries, convenience stores, and local businesses, the neighborhood occupies a significant area of Rome but belongs to Chillicothe. If you decide to stop by with Fido, make sure to visit Walnut Dog Park, a no-frills dog park in a convenient, quiet location. The fenced area is remote from the busy traffic on IL-29 and nestled along the waterline, making off-leash playtime safe and happy for both dog owners and pets! The park has almost no shade, a few benches, and no drinking water fountains.

Forest Park
Peoria Heights is a southern extension of Peoria in Peoria County, Illinois. Forest Park Nature Center is an amazing nature preserve tucked in the very southern end of the village, promising lots of fun for two- and four-legged visitors! The park features more than 500 acres of preserved wilderness with a well-developed network of walking trails leading to a natural history museum and a bird observatory. Pooches are very welcome to join their masters but should stay on-leash to protect the abundance of the local wildlife and rare species here. Prepare to walk a lot, and bring plenty of water and waste bags with you.

Beverly Manor
Beverly Manor is a pet-friendly neighborhood in Washington. It will take you no more than an hour to reach from Toulon. Meadow Valley Park is a beautiful recreation area with a pet-friendly extension. You don't even have to enter the main park if you only want to visit the off-leash area! The parking lot is right across from the dog park. The dog park has a fence as well as two enclosures for small and large dogs with seating in each. You are also welcome to visit the shopping area on Washington Road and taste the treats at McMahons Pints and Plates, or enjoy a creamy desert outside Ice Cream Shack of Sunnyland.

North Morton
North Morton is a serene, sparsely populated area that's remote from the busy local traffic. Northwood Park is one of the places where you can relax and get lost on purpose while exploring multiple walking trails with your leashed buddy. Need more outdoor fun? Oakwood Dog Park, a wonderful pet-friendly extension of the main park, is a pawfect place to let your buddy run off-leash! The fence keeps escape artists of all kinds safe, and plenty of local pups make great company for fun chases and games. There are two separate sections for different breeds with seating in each as well as seasonal drinking water.
Downtown Pekin
Pekin is the largest city in Tazewell County located on the Illinois River, with a small portion of the city touching Peoria County. The downtown area has a well-developed commercial area with multiple eateries, shopping venues, and attractions. You and your pup would be barking mad to miss Mineral Springs Park, a wonderful public park with multiple playgrounds and a pond. Add to the fun at Happy Tails Dog Park, a small but clean dog park where you can let your mutt go wild off-leash and chase local mutts! The area is not fenced and is a great place to master an exercise routine or play fetch!
