Introduction

Akita Chows are just adorable. There, we said it. This interesting breed is a mix of Akita and Chow Chow, both known to be quite large but so fluffy. Akita Chows are large dogs that can grow up to 25 inches tall and they are loyal to the bone, calm and collected, and independent dogs who "don’t need no man". They are intelligent and loving, and they will protect their owners through thick and thin, so that makes them perfect companions. This also means that you’d have to think of fun activities you can do together to strengthen your bond and consolidate your love for each other.

Activity description

Akita Chows are large energetic dogs, which means they require a lot of exercise to stay happy and healthy. This also means that it is time to get off that couch, close your laptop, and go outside and play with your pup. Playing fetch is fun and all, but sometimes you need to introduce a twist, so you don’t get bored. In comes the Fetch Race, and exciting game of fetch with a little twist to it. Instead of just throwing stuff and expecting your dog to bring it back, why not actively participate in the game? You will get some much-needed exercise, and your dog will be thrilled that you are running around the park with them!

Step
1
Find a playground
Since your dog is big, and you are a grown human, you need a lot of space. Makes sense, right? Well, if you are one of the lucky ones and you have a backyard, great! Go outside and play! If not, find a park where it is safe to have your dog off the leash or go to a nearby field where both of you can be free and barefoot.
Step
2
Get your props
Next, think about the props you will need. Certainly, a stick is always a good option, but sticks can sometimes splinter and cause injuries (both on your doggo and you). You can always opt for a rubber toy, something stick-shaped preferably, and something that is large enough, so you don’t lose it in the grass.
Step
3
Fetch and run
Finally, it is time for the big event! Throw the toy or a stick and see who can reach it first! Whoever does, gets a treat or praise! Make sure to get healthy treats so as not to add inches to your waists, and include a lot of praise when your doggo retrieves a toy successfully.

Activity description

Flirt poles are great. They offer loads of fun for a low price, and they can teach your dog how to chase the prey and develop their motor skills. Big doggos such as Akita Chows will, however, require a sturdy flirt pole, so either construct one yourself (which is fun in itself) or get a good quality one from the pet store. Then, all you have to do is start playing! This game is excellent for people with injured knees, as you can exercise your dog without putting too much strain on your legs, as a wise man said, the best of both worlds.

Step
1
Get a flirt pole
First of all, get a good quality flirt pole. You need a sturdy one since you have a big energetic dog, and amateur stuff won’t do the trick. Alternatively, make your own, by using a good rope and a sturdy stick. Tie a toy to the end of the rope, and you’re good to go!
Step
2
Teach the game
Next, teach your doggo how to play. Start small. Dangle the rope in front of your dog to interest them in getting the toy. Slowly introduce more movement and let them win once in a while to teach them the feeling of obtaining the prey.
Step
3
Have fun!
Now that you’re both up to speed, it is time for some fun. Get outside and whip that rope back and forth. Let your dog catch the toy once in a while to avoid frustration and include a lot of praise when they do. Oh, and you can learn some flirt pole tricks to make the game more interesting!

Activity description

Don’t we all love to travel? But when you do, you leave your dog behind, and both of you are sad. So why not bring them along on a backpacking adventure? Plan ahead and see what you need to bring for both you and your pup. Try to pack light and start small, maybe go to a nearby city first before venturing off into the great big world. Your doggo will love exploring new places and will enjoy your company along the way. Traveling is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have, and sharing that with your dog will make you even happier. So, hit that open road with your Akita Chow and explore the vast world around you!

Step
1
Prepare
Pack smart, and we cannot stress this enough. Since you will be carrying a backpack, make sure that you are not bringing unnecessary things with you. You don’t need ten pairs of pants, and your dog does not need fifteen different toys. After hours of walking, you will get tired, and your back will hurt if you overpack, and that mood will reflect on your dog as well.
Step
2
Plan
Next, plan your trip carefully. Do not just go without any aim, you are not only responsible for yourself, but for your dog as well! See which hostels are dog-friendly to avoid sleeping in the streets or searching for hours for another hostel. Have a bottle for water and some emergency canned food for your pup.
Step
3
Explore!
Life is all about exploring! So, don’t be afraid to talk to new people, especially if they have dogs. Your pup can make a new friend on the road, and who knows, maybe when you eventually do come home, they can visit you, and you can visit them! Explore the world with your pup, see a new town, go to that lavender field you always wanted to visit with your best friend by your side.

Treat Ball

Get a treat ball, stuff it with healthy snacks and let your doggo play with it. The treats will fall out slowly, offering a tasty bite during playtime!

Conclusion

As you can see, there are so many things you can do with your lovely Akita Chow. Whether your doggo is highly energetic or lazy, you can make every day into a fantastic day of fun with a little creativity and imagination. Your pup will be thrilled to play with you, so don’t be afraid to explore various activities for a big doggo such as this one. After all, big dogs can be bear hugged when they are good boys, so don’t be afraid to show some affection to your best friend.
