Introduction

A Boglen Terrier is a cross between a Boston Terrier and a Beagle. They get their keen nose from the Beagle and their stubborn nature from the Boston Terrier. The resultant breed is one that is fiercely loyal, albeit a little stubborn and hard to train! If you need a helping hand to keep them occupied and off Santa's naughty list, then it might be time to try these activities below. One or two can't hurt!

Activity description

Because your Boglen Terrier has Beagle parentage, you may find they are not the easiest dogs to walk - at least not in the beginning. Their noses are working overtime to pick up new scents, and your little ol' leash isn't going to stop them from getting to the source! That's why it's crucial to begin leash training right away. On a sunny day, set aside 20 minutes to get this affordable but challenging activity underway. It might test your patience over the next few weeks of walking, but it will be well worth it in the end when your dog walks nicely!

Step
1
Choose a leash
Believe it or not, there is a vast variety of leashes, collars, and harnesses available which may or may not suit your dog. Spend time looking at all your options. The Boglen Terrier may suffer from breathing problems so a harness may be a better option for not restricting airflow further.
Step
2
Red light, green light
A significant problem with Boglen Terriers is that they pull on the leash. They want to get to the source of the smell quickly! You can put a stop to this behavior through the dog version of red light, green light. When they pull on the leash, stop your walk and call your pup back to you. Ask them to sit down and reward them with a treat when they do. Begin walking again. Every time they pull, repeat the process. They will begin to discover a connection between them pulling and their fun ending!

Activity description
If your Boglen Terrier has a keen nose, as most of them do, then you will love being able to play scent games with them. Use their talents to their advantage while offering mental and physical stimulation at the same time. Scent games can take up half an hour of your time, are fun and effortless, and only cost a little bit for treats and toys. What's more, setting time aside to play with your Boglen Terrier can ease any separation anxiety they have. It's also an excellent way to keep them out of trouble and in your good books!
Step
1
Find the treat
Find the treat is a fun scent game that all Boglen Terriers will love. Call them into the room and let them find a treat you have placed on the ground. Naturally, they will begin to look for more. Once they are out of the room again, hide more and call them back in. Every time they enter the room, they will immediately begin using their keen sense of smell to find more treats in less visible locations.
Step
2
Pick a hand
Pick a hand is going to be a game your doggo loves. Put a strong-smelling food such as cheese in one closed fist. Offer your pup the treat and say the trigger words "find it." Once your Terrier smells the right hand, repeat the trigger words and give them the treat. Repeat this process a few times before alternating hands.
Step
3
Hide and seek
This scent game is based on your dog's love and adoration for you. Hide somewhere in the house and call your pup, waiting for them to find you. The next time, hide without yelling out for them. They will have to smell and work hard to discover you!

Activity description
Sometimes, you want to help your dog get all the mental and physical stimulation they require, but without having to put in a lot of effort. That's where a trip to the dog park comes in handy. They get to have the time of their lives with other dogs, burn off their energy for an hour, and do so without it costing you a cent. The deal clincher is that this sunny-day activity is effortless and you only have to supervise instead of getting involved. What's more, it enables you both to get fresh air and zaps up all your Boglen Terrier's energy.
Step
1
Find a park
Did you know that not all dog parks are the same? They can differ depending on where you live. Some offer an all-inclusive enclosure for dogs to place nicely. Others separate them by size. Given the curious nature of your Boglen Terrier and their protective behavior, you may find it's an excellent idea to use a small or medium enclosure with Fort Knox fencing.
Step
2
Play
Boglen Terriers are social dogs, so you will have no trouble coaxing them into the pen to play with other dogs. However, you will need to supervise their play. As soon as they pick up a new scent, they may be off like a rocket to find the source. You need to be on their tail to bring them back to the safe area of the park.

More Fun Ideas...

Walk

A Boglen Terrier requires around an hour of exercise per day, which is what a walk can offer. All you need to do is put on your gym shoes, attach their harness or leash, and head out. Let the road take you to different areas each time you go out. You can then check out areas of your town or city that may not be immediately obvious.

Paddling Pool

Is the intense sun making your dog uncomfortable? Then treat them to a dip in the pool. Remember, dogs can't regulate their temperature as well as humans, and they may need a helping hand. Throw a few toys and treats into the children's pool and why not join them too!

Conclusion

Boglen Terriers may take a great deal of entertainment and activities to keep them out of trouble, but their pawsitively delightful demeanor will make it all worth it. Once you see their tail wag as they frolic about in the sunshine, you will know all your research to keep them happy was for a purpose. They are truly man's best friend.
