Have you always wanted to spend your afternoons on a tropical island, sipping cocktails and exploring the majestic beaches while the sun makes your skin look tan and beautiful? Does that island involve the Atlantic ocean, a national park, and the breathtaking surroundings? If so, and if your doggo feels as adventurous as you do, why not go full islander and visit the gorgeous archipelago Fernando de Noronha, just about 350 kilometers off Brazil’s coast. The largest island is tiny and the population is also under 4000, so you are in for a relaxing time at this tropical paradise.

Step
1
Get there
One of the most significant challenges will be reaching the island. However, as years go by, it gets significantly easier to get to your destination. The fastest way is definitely by plane, either from Recife or Natal that go each day, or a flight from one of Brazil’s larger cities. This is okay if the small planes allow dogs, but if not, you can always choose the alternative – a boat! Each day you can catch a boat from Natal, Recife, or Fortaleza, and there is a higher chance that the captain will allow your doggo on board.
Step
2
Pick your island
Once you reach Fernando de Noronha archipelago, it is time to choose your island! As we know, the archipelago boasts twenty-one islands of which only the largest one has people living on it, so this is the safest and most comfortable choice, as you will most probably need a special permit from the authorities since they are the National Maritime Park.
Step
3
Ride around!
One of the best things you can do here is to explore the entire island! Rent a car and drive to Sancho Bay, the gorgeous beach from where you can easily walk to Pig Bay, another breathtaking beach. You can check out lovely dolphins at Dolphins Bay or watch and respectfully check out sea turtles on Baia do Sueste.

One of the most exciting cities in the whole world is one of the most famous cities in Brazil – Rio de Janeiro. Not only is it the home of the most renowned carnival ever, but it is also a vibrant place full of exciting activities, landmarks, beautiful streets, and wonderful people who love doggos. Instead of always relying on the travel agent to arrange a city tour, you can be an adventurous tourist and explore the city with a smaller group of people and for almost free, by finding one of the local free tours. Most hostel staff will gladly point you in the right direction and give you good recommendations on best free tours of the city, so, pack your backpack, get a leash, and explore Rio!

Step
1
Go to favelas
Some of the most exciting things happen in places where stuff is dealt with in an alternative manner. One of such sites are the Favelas, the illegal neighborhoods in Rio that became their cities to an extent. Talk to the tour guide about taking a dog with you and make sure to keep them on a leash to avoid them getting lost. Meet the locals and their pets, have some fantastic street food, and soak up the different culture favelas have to offer.
Step
2
Copacabana bums
Be proper beach bums by going on a whole day adventure in Copacabana! You and your dog will have loads of fun checking out the famous beaches, delicious treats, and smiling people that greet you with every step you take. Put on some funky clothes, get a quirky hat for your doggo, and the two of you will be the talk of the town in no time!

If you are a fan of Mother Nature and you want to soak up as many of her beauties as you can, you will love this one. Take your pup on an adventure of a lifetime by visiting the gorgeous Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, one of the most breathtaking places on this planet. The national park has it all – white sand beaches, delightful blue lagoons, and mangrove swamps – all built by our very own nature. One of the most exciting things about this place is the vast field of dunes, something you do not often see anywhere in the world due to their unique formation. You can find this national park in northeast Brazil, close to Baia de Sao Jose.

Step
1
Get there
First off, you will need to reach your destination. Rent a car or take a dog-friendly bus (you might need to smooth talk a bus driver to allow a big dog on) to Sao Luis, the capital of Maranhão district where the park is located. Optionally, you can take an air taxi, but consider that you might have to pay extra to have a doggo on board.
Step
2
Dunes, dunes, dunes
As previously stated, the Lençóis Maranhenses dunes are some of the most exquisite in the world. Take your pup on a long walk and explore the wonders of mother nature. The doggo might be confused by the change of landscape and wonder if they ended up on a different planet, but soon they will see just how great Brazil is and how sand is fun and easy to play with!

Your pup and you can play expedition and discover new nooks in this park, and who knows, maybe you will find something no one ever has!

Guanabara Bay

Visit the sunny Guanabara Bay, located close to Rio de Janeiro and check out some astonishing mountains! Get your hiking gear, pack a doggy bowl, grab a leash and go on an adventure!

Conclusion

Brazil is a magical country with many attractions to offer. However, probably the best thing about it is the untouched nature and a plethora of national parks that will satisfy even the most adventurous of spirits. So, pack your bags, pack your doggy bag, get a good leash and start exploring Brazil hand in paw with your best friend!
