Introduction

Louisiana is a tropical paradise but, unfortunately, that means that many days are rainy. The rain helps keep the lush vegetation green and also maintain the regional swampland's ecosystem. However, most days are warm even if the rain does fall. Many times of the year, the storm is a welcome respite from the heat. Even if it is a rainy day, there are still many things that you and your four-legged furry buddy can enjoy. Remember, the outing isn't always about the activity but more about spending quality time with your pooch. Most dogs love doing any fun activity and think very little about the weather.

Activity description
In Louisiana, businesses are prepared for the typical afternoon thundershower that occurs like clockwork almost every day during the summer months. This means they have covered patios, umbrella tables, and even outdoor heaters to take the chill out of the air. If it looks like rain, why not grab a drink with your four-legged buddy while you wait for the storm to pass? At the Bulldog locations in Baton Rouge and New Orleans dogs are welcome. Centrally located, the place boasts an ample beer menu (they serve 81 varieties of unique brews) and also lots of yummy food choices.
Step
1
Wipe your paws
If it's rainy, your dog's paws might be wet so be sure to use a towel or walk them around a bit so they can shake the water and any possible mud from their paws before you both enter the Bulldog. Also, make sure your four-legged buddy is on a leash or in a doggy stroller before entering the pub.
Step
2
Pick a table
Pick a spot and order up. Make sure your pooch lays by your table and remains well-mannered; always be aware of patrons without a dog. Both locations, the Bulldog in New Orleans and the one in Baton Rouge, have ample seating and large patios.
Step
3
Enjoy your time with Fido
While at the Bulldog, your dog will have the option of a cool refreshing drink. They even offer doggy treats. Many other dog owners gather at the spot so it's a great way to socialize with other canine owners.

If the entire day looks like it's going to be rainy but Fido is itching for an adventure, why not shop for your dog supplies together? You can hit Tractor Supply or one of the many other large pet stores that welcome dogs. Your pooch will probably love walking the aisles to pick out supplies, treats, and even toys. Most of the stores offer visiting canines a delicious crunchy dog treat at checkout to make the dog's outing feel special. Usually, on rainy days, such locations are brimming with other dog owners. Taking a trip to this venue is a great way to get to know the locals who also share their lives with beloved canines - you may make friends for a doggy playdate!
Step
1
Watch for slippery surfaces
When you first arrive at any retailer you will want to leash up your dog. Also, you might take your pooch for a walk in a designated area to do the animal's personal business before entering the establishment. Always remember to pick up after your dog. Upon entering the store, be careful because sometimes the flooring can be a bit slippery if your dog's paws are wet.
Step
2
Entering the store
Many stores that welcome dogs have specialized shopping carts that feature pads for your dog to stand on. You are also welcome to bring pet strollers into Tractor Supply. Even if your dog is riding in a shopping cart or a pet stroller you must always keep a leash on them.
Step
3
Browse and shop
Remember to have fun walking the many aisles looking at dog supplies. The outing is about you and your pooch bonding on a rainy day. It's a great way to see what your dog likes in the toy department. Let your lovable companion make a new toy selection or pick up some interesting chews. At checkout, most of the dog friendly stores will even give Fido a yummy dog biscuit to enjoy.

Dog are welcome at the huge Cabela's in Gonzales, Louisiana. The massive retailer is located at the intersection of I-10 and State Highway 30. You and your dog are welcome to explore the 165,000-square-foot sporting goods store at your leisure. The store features clothing, outdoor supplies, and many other things that are fun to peruse. There are even museum-quality animal exhibits located throughout the store that are fun to look at and might even spook Fido because they are so realistic. There are also huge aquariums filled with live fish. The entire store is a must-see even if you don't plan on making any purchases.
Step
1
A new experience
When you first enter the store you will have to decide if your pooch will be walking on a leash or riding in a shopping cart through the store. If you have a pet stroller, then you can also use one of them. Some dogs do get a bit excited when they see all of the taxidermy animals that look realistic. Your pup might want to growl or bark; however, with a bit of reassurance and letting your dog look at the display closer, they should quiet down and realize that they are not real animals but only replicas.
Step
2
Picture opportunities abound
Throughout the store, there are lots of fun places to take pictures of your pooch. Awesome shots of them standing beside some of the taxidermy animals, aquariums or other outdoor scenes will make for nice memories and fun social media posts. Many owners enjoy posing their animals and taking photos. During the holidays, the retailer also hosts designated days when you can bring your pooch into the store and have their photo taken with Santa. This is always a fun activity and a great way to get a cool photo for your holiday cards.
Step
3
Don't forget a treat
Even if you don't buy anything at the huge retailer you will still want to stop as you leave the store to grab Fido a yummy dog biscuit from the customer service counter. Remember, dogs are very much welcome at Cabela's so the staff always tries to make the pooch feel special.

Take a Safari

At the Wild Country Safari, in the town of Delhi, dogs are permitted to ride in the car with you while you drive through the park to look at the animals. You must keep your windows rolled up and please don't let your dog bark at the park's animals. The drive-through adventure is a fun activity on a rainy day because many animals move around when the rain cools off the hot and humid Louisiana day. You might catch sight of all kinds of critters while on your auto safari. There is no added charge to bring your dog with you on the outing.

Rodrique Studio New Orleans

Are you an art fan? Well, then why not head to the Rodrique Studio located in New Orleans? The gallery is dog-friendly and welcomes well-behaved canines. It's a great place to enjoy a rainy day. The studio is home to the famous Blue Dog series of paintings. The colorful location is an ideal gathering spot that draws many dog lovers from all over the city or tourists who are traveling with their pooches. The Rodrique Studio is open seven days a week and sits in the heart of New Orlean's French Quarter on Royal Street. If it's raining outdoors, make sure that you wipe your feet and your dog's paws before entering the lovely art gallery.

Conclusion

Louisiana, home to the Big Easy, is a lovely state that is brilliant green all year long. However, all of that green foliage is maintained because of the frequent rain showers that hit the area, especially during the rainy season. People who call the state home don't let the rain bother them. They still find fun things to do with their four-legged pooches and you can too. With a bit of ingenuity and planning, you and your best buddy can enjoy even a raining afternoon together. There is no reason to let the showers get you down or destroy your day. Instead, rejoice in the refreshing quality of the rain and find a fun indoor activity to experience with your doggy sidekick.
