Introduction

One of the most unique hybrid breeds is the English Bulldog Terrier. A mix of the English Bulldog and the Bull Terrier, this designer breed is loyal, playful, and loves to be a part of the family. The English Bulldog Terrier is one of the strongest breeds while not being overly large. This hybrid breed will require a moderate amount of exercise as they are rather active dogs. In fact, keeping Fido active may help to prevent some of the purported aggression that the hybrid is sometimes associated with. Furthermore, they may tend to gain weight if allowed to be sedentary, so devote at least one hour daily to exercise with your furbaby.

Activity description
At some point in time, you'll need to take Fido from your home via the car. Many dogs have anxiety regarding vehicles. You can train this anxiety out of them if you begin working with them at a fairly early age. You can train your English Bulldog Terrier to ride in the car in any type of weather, and the cost is free once you purchase the items you need. You may decide to place them in a crate to ride to various locations, or you may decide to purchase a dog seat belt and allow them to ride in the car alongside you. For the purposes of this article, we will focus on riding in a crate because for many dogs, it is a safer method of transport.
Step
1
Crate training indoors
Some owners combat anxiety associated with riding in a car by placing their pooch in a crate. The crate actually becomes a bit of a safe haven for a dog that becomes anxious when riding in the car. Furthermore, if you place toys or a favorite blanket in the crate, this lessens the stress your dog may experience when riding in your vehicle.
Step
2
Crate training in the car
Once Fido is comfortable in a crate indoors, you can move the crate to the car for further training. Again, you'll want to ensure that there are favorite toys and perhaps a blanket or another comfort object inside the crate. Have your dog walk into the crate indoors. Then place the crate in the car and go for a short spin. Once you get back home, take the dog out and praise them for good behavior on the trip. Eventually, you'll want to get your English Bulldog Terrier to walk into the crate while it is inside the vehicle.
Step
3
Correcting bad behavior
Some pet parents prefer to have their dog in the back seat as opposed to in a crate. If you'd rather your dog ride under a seat belt, then you may encounter a few negative behaviors that you will need to address. Some dogs will chew at the belt. You can prevent this by applying a bitter taste deterrent to the seat belt. When you catch your dog attempting to chew, clap your hands loudly and reapply the bitter taste deterrent to the seat belt. The dog may also try to bolt out of the car when you open the door. The seat belt, properly placed, will prevent this.

treats for a reward
Activity description
The English Bulldog Terrier possesses a lot of muscle, but the breed is not all brawn and no brains.  This sometimes laid-back dog often does not care to spend hours on hours exercising, and can often be more of a couch potato. However, you can engage your English Bulldog Terrier in learning activities that will stimulate the mental muscle of this stocky pooch. Of course, you want Fido to know typical commands such as sit and stay, but you will also want to teach them more "fun" commands. Your dog will certainly enjoy the attention they receive when you give them the floor to perform these feats. This activity is typically free, other than the treats you'll need as a reward.
Step
1
Jump through a hoop
First, get Fido used to the hoop. Allow them to approach the hoop, smell it, and become comfortable with it. Give them a treat. Have a partner hold the hoop at floor level. Get on the opposite side of the hoop, and call the dog to you. Give your English Bulldog Terrier a treat for successful completion. Have your partner raise the hoop a few inches. Again, lure them through and reward them. Repeat, raising the hoop each time. Say, "Leap" each time. Reward them for a job well done.
Step
2
Shake hands
With your dog in a seated position, pick up their paw and say shake. Then give them a treat. Repeat until you can get Fido to place their paw in your hand. Be sure to reward with plenty of praise as well. Take a short break, then repeat this once more. Be sure to heap praise and treats for a job well done.
Step
3
Open a door
You'll need to prepare before engaging your pup by tying a bandanna around the door handle which you seek to open. Encourage them to grab the bandanna and pull it to open the door. Give them a treat for doing so. Have them to repeat, but this time say "open" as they approach the door. Repeat until the dog will open the door upon your command.

Activity description
When the weather is agreeable, sometimes the best activity for Fido is simply a change of scenery. If you live in an area that has a great deal of fun, outdoor places to visit, you are likely to be able to take your English Bulldog Terrier along for the trip. Many restaurants with an outdoor eating area such as a patio often allow dogs to come along with the owners for lunch, with the only requirement that the dog remain behaved during the visit. During the warmer months, outdoor shopping opportunities may also allow Fido to come along. During the winter, you may have to limit these visits to the pet store, who also generally allow dogs to enter free of charge.
Step
1
Pet-friendly restaurants
Most restaurants have a strict "no pet" policy, but outdoor restaurants - or at least those with a patio area - will often allow your well-behaved pooch to come along for lunch. This will often also be an enclosed area, but if not, you'll need to ensure that Fido will stay seated near you. This means they will need to know the "sit" and "stay" commands so that they won't be tempted to wander while you eat.
Step
2
Pet-friendly shopping
During the warmer months, many outdoor shopping opportunities present themselves. The flea market is a great example of a place that your canine can accompany you. The pet store is also another place where Fido is welcome. In fact, you can visit the pet store no matter the weather outdoors.
Step
3
Before you go
Before taking Fido to an outdoor restaurant or shopping, your dog absolutely must have complete command of, well, commands. "Sit" and "stay" are the most necessary of these commands. You might also want to make sure that your dog knows "leave it" as well. Also, confirm with each location that dogs are allowed before you get there.

More Fun Ideas...

Swimming

If you have access to a pool, training swimming is a great low-impact activity for the English Bulldog Terrier. Purchase a doggy flotation vest and let the swimming lessons begin!

Fetch

The English Bulldog Terrier will enjoy a fun game of fetch with you; this game can be played indoors and outside as well. The fetch game allows for practicing the drop-it or leave-it commands.

Conclusion

The English Bulldog Terrier is a dog that truly enjoys being with their family. This is why you must choose activities that promote the two of you spending time together. Teaching your dog to properly ride in the car will allow you and your best buddy to see a wide variety of places outside of the home, such as a number of pet-friendly locations. Keep your pup busy and give them the chance to develop into a well-rounded dog!
