Activity description
Wag! nation, we can’t really think of what people love more because good music and charming dogs are up there, high on the list for sure. If you’re looking to take your music and hit the streets, then you might consider taking your well-behaved pooch along for the ride. This will give you a friend to turn to during performances, and your fur baby is sure to attract the multitudes. People love dogs! Maybe even more than music? Well, we’re not sure about that, but your faithful guitar and your trusty, fluffy companion can definitely make the experience an enjoyable one. Don’t forget to make yourself a sign that says, “Out walking the dog. Be right back!”
Step
1
Select location
Check with neighboring businesses and even the city to make sure your presence is welcome in the area. Farmers’ markets, plazas, and even streets can be ideal locations. Be sure you’re selecting a space that’s safe for your dog. For example, a busy street where they could get trampled or wander into traffic isn’t a great idea at all. Be smart about this decision. Have someone lined up to walk your dog or sit with your setup while you walk your dog.
Step
2
Play for the masses
You may be tempted to play what you feel like playing, but if you’re busking, you should play some popular music (with your own spin on it, of course) so that the passersby recognize the tunes. They’ll already be looking your way because of your lovable dog, but reel them in with some beloved jams.
Step
3
Be polite and have fun
Smile, wave, and be upbeat. Take a few breaks occasionally to pet your doggo and let them know you’re protecting them just like they’re protecting you in this crowded area. Assure them that this is a fun time. Invite people to also pet your pooch, and thank them for dropping cash into your case. A simple head nod is as good as a thank you if you’re mid-song. Acknowledge the people around you.

Activity description
If you’re looking for ways to hang out with your guitar and your dog and also do some good in the world, songwriting for a local charity is a great thing to get involved in. You can write dog-friendly tunes or simply play your own songs for a good cause. Your pup can help you raise awareness as you video yourself. You can either perform live or post videos with a fundraising site. You’ll feel terrific as you help others, and your doggo will feel terrific as they spend time with you. Strap on that guitar, and get ready to make a difference!
Step
1
Choose where to make a difference
All you have to do is simply get online to find needs in the world. You might raise money for an animal-centered charity or a specifically dog-centered initiative. You could even raise awareness and funds for a certain illness or for young children in hospitals, along with their struggling families.
Step
2
Write some songs
Write some songs in your own way, and share your message with all who will listen. You might write a special song for a certain ill individual or a puppy or older pooch in need of a new, loving home. Make the songs funny, or make them serious. People will enjoy the moment of entertainment and hopefully be inclined to give.
Step
3
Share your music-with-a-cause
You must share your music in order to raise money for your chosen charity. So find a stage to perform on, or record yourself and share across the web. Better yet, do both of these things! The more you get the word out, the more money you can raise for bettering your world!

Playing for Pleasure

Sunny Day
Free
Easy
2 - 4 hrs
Items needed
Harness and leash
Doggie waste bags
Picnic blanket
Water and snacks
Park-appropriate toys
Activity description
Nothing will get your furry buddy fired up like a hop over into the truck and a day at the park. They know what’s going on as soon as you load up your guitar and grab their harness and leash. They see you folding the picnic blanket or quilt, grabbing the snacks and water, and humming your “we’re headed to the park” tune. They’re so intuitive and ready to travel with you wherever. It’s hard to find human friends that are so onboard with absolutely every single one of your whims and endeavors. But your dog? Oh, they’re in it for as long as they live, and they’ll support you even when everyone else is busy or unavailable.
Step
1
Load up and head out
Pack up your car with all your essential items. And enjoy the journey there. Too often we’re wrapped up in the destination of life, but the paths we take to get to where we are going are often super fun and beautiful if we’re willing to take it all in. Roll down the windows, breathe in the fresh air, and take delight in your puppy pal.
Step
2
Enjoy the day
Invite a friend and their pup if you want, or take off on your own adventure, just you and the good ole boy or girl. As you play your guitar, be sure to stop occasionally. Your pet can’t wait for you to grab that Frisbee, even though they definitely enjoy hearing you play as they pant and rest from the previous game time.
Step
3
Feel out the situation
You don’t have to play your guitar loudly or sing at the top of your lungs at the park. Relax, play softly, and don’t forget to have breaks in which your pup is the center of attention. You may draw a crowd with your playing, but you may also be disturbing the tranquility of the park if you’re rocking out. Just pay attention to others enjoying the day as well.

Dog-Friendly Practice Session

Bring your pooch along for your next practice session. If they howl, you can actually train them to hold back while you work on your music. Take some treats along and reward them for good, quieter behavior.

Easy Listening with Your Pooch

Put your playlist or old records on. Enjoy listening to some of your favorite music, but get in plenty of belly rubs and ear scratches as you unwind and let the music carry you and your fur child away.

Conclusion

You’re the three musketeers: you, your guitar, and your dog! We encourage all three of you to be around each other as much as possible. Have fun, laugh, play, and spread love wherever you go. You have so many opportunities for good times, memories, and even great change ahead of you.
