Introduction

If you find yourself looking at your dog and thinking they resemble a bat, you just might have the lovable Italian Greyhuahua on your hands! The Italian Greyhound and Chihuahua mix is a smaller designer breed that makes a great family dog. They're loyal, affectionate, and playful. While Chihuahuas are more laid-back, the Italian Greyhound is a very active dog that needs stimulation, which means you're going to want to have a variety of activities to engage them. Activity description
Italian Greyhuahuas have a lot of energy! When the weather is nice, why not let your playful pup burn up some of that excess energy by going on a hike? Many national forests and state parks allow pups to explore the trails. Some trails will be free, but some parks charge a nominal entry fee. Grab a picnic lunch, your dog, and a friend or two and make a whole day of the adventure. If you don't want to spend the whole day out hiking, feel free to just explore at your leisure; we recommend that you plan for at least an hour.
Step
1
Find a hiking trail
Not all hiking trails are created equal, so make sure you start by doing your research. Go online or make some phone calls to find out if your canine companion is allowed to join you on the trail you want to use. It might also be a good plan to ask what, if any, wildlife is in the area. Play it safe!
Step
2
Gather your supplies
Make sure you have everything you and your dog will need for the hike. At the very least, you'll need to bring along water for both you and your dog, a bowl for them to drink from, and some waste bags to clean up their messes. Trail snacks are a good idea as long as you're not hiking in a remote area home to dangerous wildlife. As a general rule, it's better to have too many supplies than too few.
Step
3
Time to hike
If you're hiking in a remote area, make sure to alert someone of your plans, and stay safe on your hike by being aware of your surroundings. Make sure that Fido stays on their leash at all times. Remember that your Italian Greyhuahua might enjoy frequent, short breaks; after all, their legs aren't nearly as long as yours! Most importantly, have fun!

Kite
Activity description
Both Italian Greyhounds and Chihuahuas enjoy chasing things, and interestingly shaped objects in the sky are no exception! When the weather is nice out, with just a bit of a breeze, take your dog along for the fun of flying a kite. You can usually find a cheap kite at a dollar store, but if you want something a bit more substantial, the price goes up. It's recommended that you do this either in a fenced-in setting or with the help of a friend, as holding onto a kite and your dog's leash at the same time might not be the easiest task.
Step
1
Choose your kite
If you don't already have a kite, the first step is buying one. You can find a kite at many places, including general stores, toy stores, and hobby shops. If you haven't flown a kite before, we recommend starting with a simple, no-frills kite. Your dog will enjoy it all the same!
Step
2
Fly your kite
After you've bought your kite and chosen a clear, open location, it's time to fly it! Don't be discouraged if your kite doesn't take flight right away. It can be tricky at first. Chances are that your dog will already be intrigued by this object that their "favfurite" human is playing with; watch as that intrigue comes through your dog running along with you.

Doggy Sleepover

Activity description
Dogs are pack animals, and that includes the Italian Greyhuahua! If you have any friends with dogs, a doggy sleepover is the pawfect opportunity to allow your dog the chance to socialize. Socializing allows your pup to work on their manners. A sleepover for your dog can be held regardless of the weather, and you probably already have everything you need on hand: blankets, dog treats, and maybe some pillows. This is a pretty easy activity to enjoy with your pup, but depending how many dogs you have over, it can quickly become quite a handful. We recommend planning ahead!
Step
1
Plan your sleepover
Think about the dogs that your own furry friend enjoys playing with and start there! If you're going to have even one dog staying with your own pup overnight, you want to know that they can get along well. Make plans with the other dogs' owners so that you're well-prepared for their overnight stay. It's a good idea to request the sleepover be BYODF -- bring your dog food. No one wants to deal with an upset stomach!
Step
2
Party prep
It's a good idea to have everything set up before your dog's furry friends come over. Have blankets set out so that the dogs will have somewhere to relax other than on the carpet. Go ahead and set out enough water for everyone. Scatter some toys around the living room so that they'll feel more comfortable when they arrive. We also recommend having the treats out but tucked away where the dogs can't reach them!
Step
3
Sleepover time
When the dogs start arriving, make sure your Italian Greyhuahua isn't too overwhelmed by the dogs being in their space. It's one thing to play with friends at the park, but it's another to have them come into their territory. Slowly introduce the dogs one by one; it might be a good idea to stagger the dogs' arrivals. If everything is going smoothly, enjoy watching your dog have fun playing with their canine companions! After sleep arrives, it might be a good idea to wake up once or twice during the night to see if anyone needs a potty break.

When your Italian Greyhuahua is feeling relaxed, why not try to give them a dose of glamour? You can buy some non-toxic nail polish and paint your dog's toenails. As an added bonus, you can paint your nails to match!
