Introduction

A Tibetan Spaltese is a beautiful, well-rounded breed that loves to be the center of attention and spend time with their family. They are easy-going, friendly, happy, and will suit apartment life or family life well. There are very few dogs with a temperament like that of a Tibetan Spaltese, so if you are looking for a doggo that doesn’t need a lot of physical or mental activity but merely your company, then this Maltese and Tibetan Spaniel cross is for you. However, because they aren’t chomping at the bit to go for a run or a walk, they are prone to obesity. Treat them to these activities below to keep their bodies healthy and their minds sharp.

Activity description

The Tibetan Spaltese is a breed that can be prone to obesity, as they are usually the last ones to want to head out the door for some exercise. If your dog is beginning to lose their slim figure, and you don’t have time to take them to a park or on a walk, then it might be a good idea to invest in a treadmill. There are many benefits associated with using a dog treadmill. Even though they are expensive, you can set them up in your home to use in all weather, and they will be relatively easy for your dog to learn how to use. What’s more, they can walk on their own for 20 minutes on a leash, with the promise of a treat for their efforts.

Step
1
Introduce and begin
You can’t throw your Tibetan Spaltese onto the treadmill and immediately make them walk. Instead of doing as you expect, they may scamper off it terrified! You need to begin slowly. Put them on the treadmill and give them commands they know such as sit and stay. Doing so will get your dog used to both A) the treadmill and B) obeying instructions while using it. Then, you can hook their leash onto their collar and hold onto it before turning the treadmill onto the lowest setting.
Step
2
Encourage walking
Use positive energy and maybe even a treat to encourage your dog to walk forward. If your Tibetan Spaltese gets scared or nervous, remove them from the treadmill and try again later. It may take a few tries for them to get used to it. Don’t give up, as a treadmill for dogs is going to benefit you both!
Step
3
Increase speed
After running the treadmill at a snail’s pace, getting your pooch used to walking forward with the motion, increase the rate to the next level. Help them to get used to that speed with encouragement, but drop it down again if they appear upset. Then, stop the treadmill after 20 minutes, teach them to stop and sit, then let them get off it once it’s safe to do so.

Activity description

A Tibetan Spaltese is a breed of dog that loves to please their owners. Doing so makes them the center of attention while also bringing showers of positive praise their way! If the rainy weather is stopping you from entertaining your buddy outside, then try teaching them a new trick. In five-minute sessions throughout many days or weeks, you will be able to coach your Tibetan Spaltese in how to high five. Use treats and positive reinforcement and they will become the coolest pooch around! You may find your Tibetan Spaltese also learns this skill quicker than others due to their intelligence stemming from Tibetan Spaniel parentage.

Step
1
Instigate and move
One of the most effective methods for coaching your dog in how to high five is by showing them how to do it then rewarding them heavily. Lift your hand in a high-five position then lift their paw to meet it. Use your trigger word “high five” followed by showering them in treats and praise for their efforts.
Step
2
Repeat the process
Keep holding your hand out, lifting their paw, using your trigger word, then offering praise. You will need to repeat this over and over again, potentially for days, to instill the new pattern. However, you have to be consistent, doing it regularly and following the same pattern. Otherwise, the process can take longer, or they will never learn how to high five.
Step
3
Trigger word only
Now, try to use the trigger word and the promise of a treat to get your dog to follow through with the trick without your help. It may take a few weeks to get to this point, but let your patience pay off. Say high five then wait for them to hold their paw up. If they don’t, hold your hand up and see if that triggers them to do the same. If not, repeat the second step until you can try this step again.

Activity description

If you find yourself with 20 minutes to spare and would love to sit back and relax, then invite your Tibetan Spaltese to do the same. This breed of dog is so malleable that they like to partake in whatever you are doing. If you plan on trying out a massage session, they will happily agree to join in! You can try out doggy massage techniques in any weather, and it doesn’t cost a cent. You need to research a few different options, set aside time for this straightforward activity, and get ready to spend valuable time with your furry companion.

Step
1
Pat gently
The first step is to get your dog calm and comfortable. Pat them gently in a rhythmic motion in your dog’s favorite patting spots. Use gentle strokes to relax them and speak to them in soft, gentle tones. The goal is to get them into a state of full relaxation so you can work your massage magic.
Step
2
Start at the neck
Next, you want to start massaging your dog’s neck, using your fingers to apply gentle pressure and move them in a circular motion. Use small motions on your Tibetan Spaltese for they are a small breed. Get behind their ears and continue with the same, calm, relaxing movements you used in the first step.
Step
3
Back massage
Dogs don’t receive pats on their back as often as they would like, so be the one to deliver on the goods. Massage your Tibetan Spaltese’ back by using gentle pressure between their shoulder blades and moving down the spine. While the pressure should be light, it should be enough that it’s comfortable for your pooch instead of ticklish. By now, they should be fully relaxed and ready to nap the day away!

More Fun Ideas...

Walk

If you are fresh out of ideas for how to entertain your chilled out Tibetan Spaltese, then a stroll around the block will do you both the world of good. Put on a pair of walking shoes, grab your pup’s harness, then hit the road. You never know what’s in your neighborhood until you venture outdoors to check it out!

Car Ride

Tibetan Spalteses are suckers for attention, which means that if you leave them home alone, they are not going to enjoy it! Where possible, include them in your outings. Purchase a car safety harness and make sure the weather conditions are ideal for your dog. Additionally, only take them out when you don’t intend on leaving them alone in the car.

Conclusion

If you are the owner of a Tibetan Spaltese, then you will be overjoyed with how much love the breed brings into your life. They are a constantly pawsitive pup that wants you to love them and want to love you in return. They also thrive on new challenges and spending time with you – no matter what you’re doing. Treat them to fun activities that will show them how much they mean to you.Â
