Introduction

The Toxirn is a tiny companion dog originating from the Cairn Terrier and Chihuahua. They get their playfulness and loyalty from the Cairn Terrier and the protectiveness and size from the Chihuahua. When you join the breeds together, you get a lovely little dog that’s ideal for life in an apartment or home, with or without other pets. The Toxirn is normally no more than 10 pounds and doesn’t require a lot of physical activity. However, they do like to have something to keep them busy. These activities below might help.

Activity description

If you live in an apartment or it’s raining outside, you may find it challenging to offer your Toxirn a fun and stimulating activity. A quick trip to the pet store can see you with a toy that will provide an hour of entertainment for as many years as you need. A food-stuffed toy is perfect before it’s affordable and effortless to use. All you have to do is add food and let your dog spend countless hours trying to get it all out. It’s perfect for apartment-dwelling dogs or pups that require ongoing stimulation to keep them out of trouble.

Step
1
Choose a toy
The market for toys you can add food to is significant. There tends to be all manner of toys capable of doing the job. However, you may find that not all are suitable for your dog. Some are ideal for dogs that aren’t destructive, while others feature robust rubber that handles even the toughest teeth. Think about your dog’s personality and select a toy that matches.
Step
2
Choose treats
Toxirns don’t need a lot of food to sustain them for the day, and it’s important not to overfeed them in case they become overweight. Choose treats they will love but don’t feature additives or high levels of salt and fat. Natural human foods that Toxirns may love include sweet potato, pumpkin, carrots, cabbage, anchovies, sardines, and red pepper.
Step
3
Supervise play
Load the food into the toy and supervise your Toxirn playing with it. Even though manufacturers make their toys as safe as they can be, you can never be too safe or cautious. Put your Toxirn in an area of your home where you will be close at hand to watch.

Activity description

Even though you may like to take your Toxirn with you everywhere you go, their little legs can tire quickly. You then face a dilemma - how to get you and your dog to your destination in a timely fashion. That’s why a pet stroller can be a lucrative investment. Instead of making your dog - with their tiny legs - walk for miles, you can buy a stroller and carry them in it. However, it’s going to take hard work. Even though training is free after the investment of the stroller, and you only need treats, it can take some time for your Toxirn to adjust and learn what you expect of them in the stroller. Try the following steps out in five-minute training sessions.

Step
1
Get used to it
You can’t expect your dog to immediately take to the pet stroller when you plop them down into it. Their first instinct will be to fly out of it! Instead, place it somewhere in your house where they can access it at their leisure. Place toys and treats around it and let them access it freely.
Step
2
Get inside
Once they are happy with the stroller sharing the same space as them, try to put them in it. Immediately give them a treat and use a positive, happy voice. If they panic, take them out and try again another time. Keep persisting, with breaks in between. Include toys and treats in with them as well as blankets if it makes them feel safer.
Step
3
Start moving
The next step is to make it move - ever so slightly. Don’t push the process. Start by moving it a few inches backward and forward, keeping note of their behavior. You can then move on to pushing them around in it in the yard, before beginning out into the streets for a regular walk.

Activity description

If you’re looking for an all-weather activity that can be fun for both your Toxirn and you, then consider playing dress-ups. While you may have thought you left your playing days behind years ago, owning a small dog brings them all back again. This simple activity can be expensive if you buy dog clothing brand new, but it can entertain you both for at least an hour. What’s more, once you dress your Toxirn up, with treat bribes, of course, you can then take pictures. If you dress your Toxirn up when you bring them home as a puppy, they won’t mind being your model as they mature.

Step
1
Pick outfits
Toxirns are no problem to buy clothing for because they are small. Pet stores stock significant ranges of toy dog clothing, and you are going to love how much variety there is. Pick clothing you know won’t be a challenge to put on them and won’t be uncomfortable. Try to buy it on sale so you can afford to buy more at once as well.
Step
2
Dress up
The final step is to dress them up! Don’t rush this process and give your Toxirn a break when they need it. You may need to coax them with treats if you need them to sit still for longer than a few moments! Once you put an outfit on them, make sure you take a great photo you can share with your friends and family.

More Fun Ideas...

Chew toys

Toxirns don’t often like to be left alone, but it’s not always possible to be with them 24 hours a day. If you need to shoot into town to run some errands, leave some chew toys at home. Your pup will love tearing around the house with one, especially if it makes a squeaky noise! You can then have no guilt about leaving them behind!

Dog Park

One of the many adorable traits of the Toxirn is that they don’t know their size. Even if they only weigh a few pounds, they don’t discriminate when it comes to their playmates. When you socialize them from a young enough age, you will also find they enjoy playing with almost any dog. Treat them to regular dog park trips to allow them to make new friends and burn off energy.

Conclusion

The Toxirn is a fun-loving and adorable small dog that loves nothing more than to be by your side. Even though you don’t need to provide them with much physical activity, it’s impawtant to offer mental stimulation daily. Take the time to come up with a few ideas to accompany those above. You can then benefit from the happiest dog on the block.
