Activity description
Wire Foxie Doxies are small pups who, when not properly trained, can suffer from what is playfully called "small dog syndrome". Actions of this condition include jumping on people, growling and snapping and failure to obey commands. However, when your Wire Foxie Doxie knows that you are the one in charge and you take assertive control over their training, this "syndrome" is easily fixed. There are plenty of ways to show your pup that you are the one in charge in a nice and humane way. Training your pup to listen to their owner just costs a few dog treats and can be done any time of year, rain or shine!
Step
1
Be consistent
Once you have trained your dog to behave a certain way, keep up with the training and never waiver. For example, if you have taught your Wire Foxie Doxie to stay off the couch, never let them on the couch! Just breaking the rules one time will cause confusion in your pup and also make them think they can do whatever they please.
Step
2
No jumping
While Wire Foxie Doxies have a tendency to jump on people to greet them, this is a sign of dominance, making your pup the one in charge. When your pup tried to jump up on you, take a step back so they simply fall onto their front paws. Say "no jump" and bend down to pet your dog and give them the attention they are seeking. Keep up with this "no jump" training until your pup ceases this behavior.
Step
3
Come and sit
When your dog is playing in the house or in the yard, call them over every now and then, have them sit and give them a nice pet or a treat. Then, allow your dog to go back to playing. Calling your dog demonstrates that you are the pack leader and in control at all times. This also makes sure that your dog is always listening to you and not wandering off!

Activity description
Wire Foxie Doxies are known to be excessive diggers - they definitely love to get those paws dirty! While your pup may be trying to uncover something in the dirt, digging to make a cool place to lay or just digging for pure fun, chances are that you don't want your Wire Foxie Doxie to be making holes in your yard. Luckily, these tricks will help your Foxie Doxie get out their digging energy in more "yard friendly" ways. Letting your dog dig is free and there are ways to play inside as well as outside so weather is not a factor!
Step
1
Designated dig
If your Wire Foxie Doxie is obsessed with digging in your yard, give in and let them! However, you should designate a spot where they are allowed to dig. Section off part of your yard and bury some bones or your dog's favorite treats in this spot to encourage your dog's digging. Any time you see your Wire Foxie Doxie starting to dig in a spot outside this area, just pick them up and move them over! Eventually, your Wire Foxie Doxie will know exactly where to dig.
Step
2
Sand box
If you don't like the idea of having your yard permanently damaged by your Wire Foxie Doxie's digging, invest in a small sandbox where they can dig and play. Your pup will enjoy the feel of the sand under their paws and the sand can remain contained in the box - everyone wins! If your dog ever grows tired of digging, you can simply remove the sandbox and have your yard remain pristine.
Step
3
Indoor dig
Sometimes, you need a nice game for your dog to play inside especially when the weather is prohibiting your dog from going out to dig. Make a big pile of dirty laundry on the floor and bury your dogs treats throughout the clothes. Your Wire Foxie Doxie will love digging through the clothes to find their prize! Clean up is easy - just throw the clothes in the wash.

Activity description
Wire Foxie Doxies are very high energy dogs which means they love playing with toys... lots of toys. Chances are, you have a lot of dog toys in your house for your pup and, chances are, they are often left all over for you to clean up. Wouldn't it be nice to have help cleaning? Why not teach your dog to pick up their toys? Wire Foxie Doxies are quite smart and can easily learn how to put away their toys (and they'll enjoy doing it!). Buy a few dog treats to help train your dog and then get started any time you'd like.
Step
1
Toys and toy box
Begin training your Wire Foxie Doxie to clean up their toys by teaching them the names of their toys. While you can use specific names for each toy, you can also just say "toys". Say the name of the toy and show it to your dog. Hand them the toy while you say the name and then give them a reward. Once your pup knows the names of the toys, also teach them the name of the toy box or place you store your dog toys.
Step
2
Lead by example
Place your dog's toy box in an accessible spot. Then, with your dog by your side, begin picking up the toys and bringing them individually to the toy box. Say the name of each toy then say "toy box" as you put them away. Give your dog a toy to hold in their mouth then lead them to the toy box. Take the toy out of their mouth and put it in the toy box, saying your commands as you do so and rewarding your pup with treats, too.
Step
3
Clean up
After a few toy cleaning sessions, try to have your pup clean up their toys on their own. Command your Wire Foxie Doxie to pick up a certain toy and instruct them to put it in the box. When your dog cleans up, be sure to give them lots of praise and rewards! Your dog will love cleaning up as it stimulates their mind, gives them something fun to do and gets lots of attention from you!
