Give a Wag! Gives to Apopka Shelters

Going out of town and worried about boarding your little fur-child while you’re gone? Don’t be! Not only is Apopka super dog-friendly (there are TONS of restaurants where you can bring your pooch), but there’s also a lot that they can do while you’re gone!

For one thing, Apopka is the main area where HoundHaven operates. HoundHaven is a local, no-kill shelter that rescues dogs of all sizes from kill shelters, some of which have special needs. They travel around central Florida to shelters, looking for dogs that are the most at risk for euthanasia. After saving these puppers, HoundHaven takes them to their shelter or places them in the care of another rescue group until each and every one has found their fur-ever home.

This shelter is run completely by volunteers—there are absolutely no paid employees. And, because there are usually only 20 dogs at the shelter at any given time, all of them are given the special love and attention that these little guys deserve until they can find a family to call their own.

HoundHaven also helpfully offers training advice on their website, because we all know that while our doggos are the best creatures to grace the planet, they do get into trouble every now and then. While you’re out of town, your boarder can take your pup to one of the shelter's other monthly events—such as brewery tours, 5Ks, and more!
