NC State Veterinary Medicine Dog Olympics
NC State University’s Veterinary Medicine department hosts a Dog Olympics each year in October for talented dogs to come show off their skills! Pooches can participate in limbo competitions, a howling contest, high jump contests, and the frisbee toss competition! There will also be activities for children and vendor booths.
The event is held from 10 am to 2 pm at the NC State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Admission for a dog owner with a competing dog is $5. For those who don’t have a competing dog, admission is $2. Admission for an individual is $1 and children under five get in for free!

SPCA of Wake County K9 3K Dog Walk and Woofstock
Every April, dogs and humans come together to help raise money for the SPCA of Wake County at the K9 3K Dog Walk and Woofstock event! Join other pups and their owners for a nice long walk and a day full of fun. Enter your dog in contests such as the dog race and take fun, festive Woofstock photos!
During the walk, bottled water will be provided for the human walkers. Dogs can take a moment to beat the heat in one of the many pools set up throughout the course.
Fees will be announced closer to the event date. The event runs from 9 am to 2 pm.

Santa Paws 5K
Every year, the SPCA of Wake County celebrates the upcoming Christmas season with the Santa Paws 5K race! The race is USATF sanctioned and timed. Bring your dog to the race for a truly fun way to help raise money to support homeless pets in the area. After the race, don’t forget to stop for a photograph with Santa!
The race takes place at Dorothea Dix Campus in Raleigh, North Carolina, which is just a short drive from Chapel Hill.
Race entry fees will be announced closer to the event date. Early bird registration discounts will be available prior to the race date.

Howl-O-Ween Pup Crawl
Halloween is a fun time for the whole family, and your dog shouldn’t have to miss out on the celebrations! Bring your pup down to downtown Raleigh for the pup crawl of the year! Dress up in your favorite costume, and don’t forget to put your pooch in a fun costume as well.
Registration begins at 1 pm at Boxcar Bar + Arcade and the Pup Crawl starts at 2. At 3:30, there is a doggy costume contest at Isaac Hunter’s. The Pup Crawl ends at 6.
Admission is $12 per person. Advance registration is highly encouraged as space is limited.

Barktoberfest
October brings about Barktoberfest in Durham, North Carolina. At Durham Central Park, dogs and owners have an afternoon of fun together. Enjoy the Barktoberfest Fun Walk and bring in donations for the Canine Food Drive! You can browse vendors at the Pet Market and get photos taken in the photo booth. Be sure to enjoy beer and food as well, and don’t miss out on the raffles! You can also enter your pupper in the costume contest for a chance to win prizes.
There will be rescues on-site with adoptable pets that are ready to meet their new families.
The event runs from 12 pm to 4 pm. Admission is free.
