Festival for the Eno

Juneteenth
A Southern tradition, Juneteenth is a street festival on East Main Street held in Durham to celebrate African American culture and accomplishment. Juneteenth takes its name from the time of year that the news of the Emancipation Proclamation finally reached slaves in the Southern-most states. North Carolina has since made it a national holiday; and in Durham, Juneteenth is HUGE! All walks of life and their furry friends are welcome to an afternoon of culture, dancing, and storytelling. Walk for the Animals
One of the Animal Protection Society’s largest annual fundraisers, Walk for the Animals is a free walk and half-kilometer run on Broad Street. Registration is free; however, individual participants and teams are asked to raise funds from friends and neighbors to support their efforts and win prizes. Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, Walk for the Animals is able to provide a kids zone, refreshments area, and judges for the costume contests! When you and your pooch are all finished with the race, shop at one of over thirty vendors or cool down by playing any of the dog-friendly games available.

Barktoberfest
Hosted by Durham Parks and Recreation partnering with Beyond Fences, Barktoberfest welcomes all pups are their humans to drink beer and be merry! With a pet market to shop at and live music to jam to, Barktoberfest hopes to unite Durham’s dog community before the holiday season kicks off.
