5K Walk/Run for Scentral Park
This annual event organized by the Darke County Friends of the Shelter gets your paws moving to support Greenville's only dog park, Scentral Park! Your furry friends are encouraged to join you in the race, but you don't have to be a dog owner to participate. Registration fees vary from $5 to $20 and all proceeds benefit the maintenance, upkeep, and improvement of Scentral Park. The race kicks off at 9 a.m. on the Darke County Fairgrounds, but be sure to show up early to register and enjoy the Best Dressed Dog Competition and free Kid's Fun Run. Medals will be awarded to runners as well as the top 3 best-dressed dogs! Get moving with your four-legged friend and the whole family for a day of tail-waggin' fun!

Dave's Diggity Dog Festival
In honor of Greenville's beloved daughter Annie Oakley, and her trusty pooch Dave, the Garst Museum hosts an annual celebration of all things dog on their lawn every October! The museum is home to the Annie Oakley Center and this event keeps the memory of her dog Dave and his loyalty alive. The famous female markswoman performed tricks with her dog, including shooting an apple off of his head!You are encouraged to attend with your furry companions in tow for an exciting day including a 1-mile dog walk through Greenville City Park, a dog parade, Police K-9 demonstrations, flyball and disc demos, doggie contests, a Weiner dog race, children's games, food vendors, microchipping, and much more! Local vets, groomers, and rescues will be present, too! The event is free to the public and there is a one time, $10 fee per dog to participate in the walk and games. All proceeds benefit the lifesaving work of the Darke County Animal Shelter and Humane Society.

Pet Pictures with Santa Claus
Every winter, the Darke County Friends of the Animal Shelter host photo sessions with Santa at the Greenville Wal-Mart in the Garden Center. The whole family is invited to get their picture taken with Santa- not just your furry friends! In the spirit of the holiday season, we want to see every pup here, whether they have been naughty or nice! Photos are just $4 and all proceeds directly help the dogs and cats at the Darke County Shelter! Wal-mart will also be offering a holiday photo package for those who are interested. Be sure to use the Garden Center entrance and have your dog leashed!

Greenville Area Dog Club Barn Hunt
The Greenville Area Dog Club is a nonprofit organization made up of dedicated dog owners. Throughout the year, the organization hosts several Barn Hunt events, a dog sport based on the traditional role of many breeds in ridding farms, homes, and barns of destructive vermin. The Barn Hunts are open to any and all breeds of dogs that wish to participate regardless of experience!Take your canine to one of these events at the Greenville Area Dog Club Training Center for a fun and exciting challenge! Rats used in the events are treated humanely with excellent care and are entirely safe in aerated tubes. Winning dogs received medallions and rosettes! Fees for the various classes vary from $12 to $30. The group also offers several types of training classes for dogs and their owners including agility, obedience, rally, conformation, and puppy classes. The Greenville Area Dog Club welcomes and accepts all individuals and dogs to participate and help support responsible dog ownership!

Scentral Park Dog Park
Scentral Park officially opened in March 2013 after a year of planning, fundraising, and construction supported by the Darke County Animal Shelter, Darke County Friends of the Shelter, the Darke County Commissioners, and the local community. The beautiful, well-maintained park offers benches, walking trails, doggie and human water fountains, ample parking, waste receptacles, and fenced, off-leash areas for both small and large dogs. Scentral Park features grassy expanses of more than 2 acres for your dog to romp and play in. As Greenville’s first and only dog park, it is the perfect place to bring your canine companion for some necessary exercise, socializing, playtime, fantastic sniffs, and sweet, sweet freedom!
