Paw Playground
Cascades Humane Society’s Paw Playground is Jackson’s only off-leash dog park, located next door from the facility. The park is open from dawn to dusk. "Bark" users will need to complete a membership agreement prior to bringing their dog out to play. Plan to sign in.The pea gravel playground can be a little "ruff" for tender paws but it's a safe place to play with shaded bench and water. Your dog must be licensed and up to date on vaccinations. Other rules include not bringing dogs in heat to the park and practising good park manners!

Falling Waters Trail
The Falling Waters Trail is one of the trails included in the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy. As part of this network to turn the corridors of rails into trails excellent for trekking, the trail is a safe and sniffer-esting place to explore with your dog. The trail also has a nearby "barking" area. The 10 miles of asphalt trail makes for a comfortable walking surface. The trail is used for biking, walking, in-line skating and cross-country skiing.

Hot Air Balloon Festival and Ella State Park
Mid-July at the Ella State Park is the place to be to watch the beautiful hot air balloons and to partake in 3 days of activities for the whole family! The entire process of launching a hot air balloon is demonstrated. The activities include concessions, carnival rides, crafts and entertainment. You can even take a photo with the daring hot air balloon pilots. The event itself is free, but it costs five bucks to park. Or, you can just come to the Ella State Park on any day of your pleasing to explore the over 520 acres that include beautiful flower gardens, miles of hiking and biking trails, and sporting fields!

Pet Parade
The nearby community hosts an annual Pet Parade in July. You can enter your costumed canine to stroll the route through this charming town! The event is hosted by the Chelsea Farmer's Supply as part of the Sounds & Sights Festival. You can sign up to participate at their store. The Cascades
Jackson is home to the Cascades, a uniquely designed area for the community to come together. There is a man-made, colored waterfall. There are also fireworks and year-round events in this park. Check the schedule for the Bandshell for an evening of music and entertainment. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to enjoy the activities on summer nights. The Cascades have areas for people play, too, including a water park for kids and a golf course! Admission is a small fee and varies by age.

Michigan is known for vineyards and wineries across the state. The Sandhill Crane Vineyards are a family-owned and dog-friendly vineyard in the Jackson area. The vineyard has outdoor tables that welcome owners to sniff and taste wines in the company of their best friend. There is also food available. The outdoor tables are on a wrap-around deck with views of the vineyards. The vineyard contributes to the community by making specialty wines for the benefit of local charities! The wine, Abrazo, meaning "hug" in Spanish, was developed to thank the Cascades Humane Society for rescuing their beloved dog, Rusty. Abrazo is a silky, soft, off-dry red blend with flavors of spicy black cherry, cocoa, black raspberry and a hint of fresh thyme. Bone appetit!
