As part of the Kansas City Metro Area, homeless animals in Lenexa, Kansas, could end up in quite a number of different animal shelters around the city. There are a couple local favorites, however.
One of the most popular rescue organizations in the Kansas City area is KC Pet Project. The KC Pet Project is a non-profit animal welfare organization that cares for nearly 10,000 animals each year. In conjunction with other local animal welfare organizations, KC Pet Project is trying to create a No-Kill Kansas City and save the lives of thousands of animals in the community every year! The organization seeks to place homeless animals in suitable homes throughout the area with three different shelter locations.
The Pet Connection is another local group promoting a No-Kill Kansas City environment for homeless, healthy, and adoptable pets. To help further this mission, The Pet Connect hosts spay and neuter clinics throughout the area to prevent more homeless animals from landing in shelters. Since its start in 1999, the group has helped more than 7,000 homeless animals find new homes. The free and low-cost spay and neuter clinics have led to more than 8,000 cats and dogs in the area being fixed. Not only does the organization try to find homes for these animals, but it also provides training and rehabilitation to pets that may otherwise go unadopted.
If you live in the Lenexa, Kansas, area and are looking for a new pet, consider contacting one of these great organizations to find your fur-baby!
