Give a Wag! Gives to Lynchburg Shelters

Lynchburg falls in the county of Bedford, and Bedford Humane Society works closely with all cities within the county lines to ensure animals find and remain in forever homes. BHS is responsible for several different community programs like Animeals, which delivers meals to pet owners with limited mobility, and then there is their robust trap and release program. Bedford Humane Society partners with several local veterinarians to provide low-cost neuter and spay clinics, and rehomes hundreds of pets each year.

Serving as the largest no-kill shelter in Lynchburg, the Lynchburg Humane Society rehomes over thousands of animals each year. Having recently moved into a larger, more modernized space, the LHS strives to up their efficiency each year through their community programs. Their most popular program is the low-cost clinic, accessible to counties all throughout the region. LHS also has several absolutely amazing children’s programs like Parent’s Night Out, in which children have an evening of activities, food, and movies with all of the kid-friendly adoptable animals.

One of the smaller rescue groups in Central Virginia, the All American Mutt Rescue that operates out of the homes of a tightly knit foster network. This rescue’s number one mission is to ensure dogs are rehomed, rehabilitated, and spayed or neutered. Working closely with Lynchburg and Bedford Humane Societies, All American Mutt Rescue does what it can with the limited space by providing the community with pet ownership tips and tricks on its website.

Dogs participate for free so long as handlers only have one.
