Give a Wag! Gives to Parkway-South Sacramento Shelters

When dogs and cats in the Parkway-South Sacramento area fall on tough times, there are several local animal welfare and rescue groups ready to lend whenever help is required. Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary is a perfect example.

Since 1993, this paw-some animal rescue group has maintained an unwavering commitment to protecting and improving the lives of homeless and abused animals throughout the Sacramento area. This no-kill, cage-free sanctuary is run by more than 200 passionate volunteers and provides nurturing, shelter, and care to rescued pets until they can be matched with the perfect owner.

Happy Tails Pet Sanctuary also runs assistance programs to help the pets of elderly, homeless, and low-income individuals, as part of a wider effort to reduce pet overpopulation. It’s also a non-profit organization, and is always looking for donations and volunteers in order to continue its amazing work.

The Sacramento SPCA is another organization that operates in the Parkway-South Sacramento area and is dedicated to giving pets their best shot at happiness. This open-admission shelter accepts all animals regardless of age, breed, health, or behavior.

With a mission to foster a loving and compassionate community for animals and people by providing assistance, creating lifelong relationships, and saving lives, the Sacramento SPCA has been working to reduce pet overpopulation since 1894.

Like so many other animal welfare groups around the country, it relies on the generous support of the community and corporate donors to keep saving lives. If you’d like to donate money, goods, or even your own time as a volunteer, head to the Sacramento SPCA website to find out how you can help.
