Give a Wag! Gives to Plantation Shelters

When dogs in Plantation or anywhere in the greater Miami metropolitan area need help, there’s a long list of inspirational rescue groups and animal welfare organizations ready to offer assistance.

The Humane Society of Broward County and United Dog Rescue are two of the best! A non-profit organization that runs an open-admission shelter, the Humane Society of Broward County can house in excess of 300 dogs and cats at any one time. It’s visited by more than 100,000 patrons each year, placing thousands of animals in loving fur-ever homes every 12 months.

The society also offers full-time veterinary services to its shelter animals and provides education about animal welfare to the wider community. However, it is not affiliated with any county or national organization and receives no funding from the government, so it depends on the generosity of the community to continue its amazing work.

Meanwhile, United Dog Rescue is another non-profit group that rescues dogs in need in Plantation and surrounding areas. A 100 percent no-kill rescue, the group accepts dogs of all breeds, sizes, and ages, and in all conditions. Through its dog rescue and adoption center, United Dog Rescue pursues its mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and adopt abandoned dogs into well-matched forever homes.

As a non-profit organization, it relies entirely on donations, adoption fees, and thrift store sales to continue helping at-risk animals. Donations and offers of volunteer support are therefore always welcome, as are loving foster carers willing to open their home to a dog in need of a little extra love.
