Give a Wag! Gives to Renton Shelters

Located only 11 miles southwest of downtown Seattle, Renton enjoys close proximity to a long list of dog-friendly attractions. This location also means that dogs in the area always have someone ready to lend a helping paw when they suffer abuse, abandonment, or neglect.

Emerald City Pet Rescue is just one of the excellent animal welfare groups that operate in the region. Based in Seattle, Emerald City Pet Rescue was founded in 2013 and is on a mission to rescue, nurture, and rehabilitate homeless and neglected animals. The pets it saves mostly come from high-kill shelters where they face euthanasia, with the end goal of finding loving forever homes for these pets in need.

Run by a passionate group of staff and volunteers, Emerald City Pet Rescue specialises in saving animals who have been in the shelters the longest and will die unless rescued. Its core value is “love can save lives”, and this organization is certainly worthy of recognition and support.

Forever Home Dog Rescue is another rescue group that works throughout the greater Seattle area. This non-profit organization receives dogs from owner surrenders and overcrowded shelters, with those dogs then placed in Forever Home Dog Rescue’s kennelling facility or in loving foster homes.

Each rescued dog has its behaviour and health assessed, and receives the medical care and attention it needs before being matched with the paw-fect owner. You’ll need to make an appointment if you want to meet one of the group’s adoptable dogs. You can also donate much-needed funds or become a volunteer.
