Give a Wag! Gives to Rock Hill Shelters

Recycled Pets Incorporated is a small nonprofit rescue team in Rock Hill that is a hub, connecting the community to dozens of valuable information resources ranging from low-cost desexing options to the dangers of giving animals as gifts. This shelter has a particular affinity for animals needing a little bit more help than the average, such as those with disabilities, seniors, and what they call ‘black pearls’ (black dogs). Despite this shelter’s size, they leave a lasting impact on every animal that walks through their doors, providing in-depth profiles and excellent photos of each adoptable dog and cat.

Serving Rock Hill and other surrounding towns, the Humane Society of York County is a nonprofit that has been rescuing and rehoming since 1976. This shelter is a member of No Kill South Carolina and hopes to bring the prohibition of unnecessary euthanasia to surrounding rescues. HSYC raises funds through a number of local events and through a thrift store run by volunteers in order to rehome just under 1,000 animals each year. The shelter maintains a robust volunteer and foster network, providing opportunities to gain work experience to young adults in the area.

Halfway There Rescue focuses on counties in the Charlotte area, taking dogs from high-kill shelters in dozens of cities. Founded by a young woman with a passion for helping vulnerable breeds, this shelter has saved over 2,000 animals! Halfway There partners with several shelters in York County by supporting their local events and hosting events of their own like food drives and adoption events.
