Give a Wag! Gives to Saint Peters Shelters

Saint Peters, Missouri, is located about 35 miles northwest of St. Louis. Being in such close proximity to such a large city makes this suburb more prone to homeless animals than other small towns in the state. These homeless animals need to be taken off the streets and cared for. Fortunately, there are a couple of local shelters that will bring these animals in and provide basic care.

The Five Acres Animal Shelter is on a mission to end pet homelessness by promoting responsible pet ownership and advocating for animal welfare. The Five Acres Animal Shelter doesn’t euthanize animals to make room for new ones, and the animals are allowed to stay in the shelter until they find forever homes or pass away. Animals are only euthanized when they can no longer live a high-quality life. As a non-profit organization, the Five Acres Animal Shelter gets it funding only from donations, fundraisers, and adoption fees.

St. Charles Animal Shelter is part of the government of the City of Saint Charles. Since opening its pet adoption center in 1999, the Division of Humane Services has placed more than 35,000 animals in new homes. The Division of Humane Services’ mission is to promote the health, safety, and welfare of both pets and people in the area through education, adoption, and enforcement programs. As part of the government, the St. Charles Animal Shelter is the place where animals brought in by the Division of Humane Services end up, which means that the shelter also tries to find the families of lost animals.
