One of the most well-known establishments in the Tampa area is the Hillsborough Animal Health Foundation. Founded in 1987 by a group of Tampa-based veterinarians, the main goal of HAHF is to foster the human-animal bond in a more profound way, promote responsible pet ownership, and to help create ways for all four-legged friends to live as healthy, happy pets. HAHF mainly provides educational services and programs, as well as dissemination of pet information. In addition, they provide scholarships, outline vet services in the area, and host information for pet adoptions.
SPCA Tampa Bay is another popular organization and one of the only non-profit, open-admission animal shelters in the Hillsborough and Pinellas County areas. Not only do they take care of pawesome pups, they also help look after exotic animals, livestock, pocket pets, and injured wildlife, too! It's one of the only available shelters in the area with no time limit for an animal's stay. This organization cares for about 8,000 animals annually.
The best part? A percentage of the sales from Yappy Hour will be donated toward benefiting local pets in need in the Tampa Bay area!
