Hi, I'm Candace. I’ve walked a number of dogs through wag, and I really enjoy meeting all the different good boys n girls. I love a happy pooch, and I can’t wait to meet yours!
I've been walking with wag full time for a year now; I love and care about the well being of all of the dogs like they were my own. At home I have 2 large Pittbulls who are total sweethearts, so I'm no stranger to interacting with dogs of all sizes (cats too!). I'm a professional ceramic sculptor as far as career goes, and I'm definitely thankful for you all for funding my art and life as well as letting me visit your pups. Thanks so much!
“The dog walker your pup deserves!”
I have been dog sitting and walking dogs for as long as I can remember. I grew up dog sitting for friends and family and often was asked to walk neighbors dogs. I have been Wag Walker for close to a year now and love it! My favorite part is forming relationships with dogs I walk regularly and meeting new dogs. I’ve walked everything from mastiffs to yorkies and am very good with dogs that pull. I am always ready to go if your dog is a fast paced walker but I also enjoy slower walks as well.

No matter where you're from, the South is always happy to welcome you! That is especially true if you love animals and are looking for a place to spend time with your furry friends. From the amazing people and culture to the variety of events and activities that are dog-friendly, Alabama has proven itself to be one very happy state.
One of the best things about animal-friendly cities is the dedication we can find towards finding homes for the homeless pets of the region. This is true of Birmingham, Alabama, more than we could have imagined. Not only are there great associations available such as the ASPCA locations, but there are some pawsome people running their own 501(c)3 rescue organizations as well.
For example, you'll probably want to stop in and visit the outstanding people at Hand in Paw, an agency dedicated to animal-assisted therapy for us humans. We couldn't resist giving them a mention, as these programs help a lot of homeless pups and purrs find a useful purpose and loving care.
When it comes to rescuing those wayward pups, the folks at Support Paws do a great job of fostering for the Shelby County Humane Society, as well as taking in lost souls when they can. They make sure to provide immediate veterinary care for those in need and work hard to rehabilitate furbabies before they go on to their fur-ever homes.
Finally, the shining star for rescuing pups in need, and humans too, is Soldiers for Strays. The paws-itively amazing people that manage this program are dedicated to more than just finding and rescuing guardian breeds and bulldog breeds. They have made it their mission to provide the perfect combination of services by aiding many veterans in finding housing, source employment, and get back on their feet in society. We think they are ter-ruff-ic!
Head over to nearby Tuscaloosa, Alabama for a great event and some delicious food! Jason's Deli is hosting this pawsitively wonderful event and there is no admission! Simply pay for your food, as you would any other time. You and your pooch are welcome to hang out on the patio, enjoy your meal, chat with friends, and help to support the Alabama SPCA. You'll be glad you did and your furry buddy will be proud of you, resulting in plenty of wags!
While you're there, be sure to check out the University of Alabama Arboretum where you and your four-legged comrade can enjoy 60-acres of pure beauty. Just remember to show your manners by cleaning up after your pet and leash their enthusiasm out of respect for the wildlife.
The annual Mutt Strut is an event that happens all across the country and Birmingham is proud to be one of the locations that host it! All proceeds go to supporting Hand in Paw, an outstanding organization dedicated to helping homeless pets everywhere. Head down to the UAB Campus Green and prepare for a great race.
Be sure to stop in at the after party, too! Good People Brewing Company will have music and a variety of food trucks available. They'd love to see you and your furry friend! Get out and have a great run, then fill up on pawsome food and some interesting drinks before heading home to brag and wag about your day.
This lovely event kicks off the Do Dah weekend events in Birmingham, Alabama and is a long-standing tradition in the city. What began as a simple backyard get-together nearly four decades ago has grown into a pawsome event that is sure to be a hit. Get together with your fellow pet-lovers and enjoy the Do Dah Eve festivities! The evening will feature a variety of contestants for the Do Dah Royalty lines. Pets are always welcome at the events, bearing costumes and appropriate manners, of course!
The event supports a host of local shelters who have been fighting to find homes for the many homeless furbabies of the area. What better reason to come out and enjoy the party?
Do Dah Day is the official day of the dogs! Birmingham is teeming with pet lovers and this event has taken a very serious lean towards promoting owner education and animal awareness throughout the region. There are volunteers that even fly in from other states just to continue supporting the event, which has nearly four decades of history.
The mini-events of Do Dah Day will have you and your furbabies rolling in the fun. From the parade to the kids' area and the live bands, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Don't forget to stop in at one of the many t-shirt stands and grab yourself a piece of memorabilia!
For those who prefer a bit more of a laid back and scenic activity, the Turkey Creek Nature Preserve offers 5 miles of lovely trails to enjoy. Get some fun in the sun with your four-legged jogging companion and take a nice, relaxing walk along the trails, then kick it up a notch and jog back!
What better way to get some exercise, enjoy time with your pet, and see some of the most lovely scenery in the country? Don't forget a camera for your waist pack, as there is plenty of wildlife to provide great photo opportunities! Just remember to show your manners and clean up after yourself in order to provide the same great experience for other trail-goers.
