“Your Pup’s Best Friend. And Your Peace of Mind!”

I am Lauretta and I have had dogs, cats and horses all my life. I’m retired so, please think of me as your pup's doting 'aunt, grandma or step-mom.' I am reliable, trustworthy and I treat your pup as if they are my own. I know how hard it is to be busy and guilt ridden that your fur-baby is stuck at home. Well, there is nothing I like better than providing exercise, sniffing opportunities, companionship and fun for your pup.

As an animal lover and dog enthusiast, I can't imagine a better opportunity to get outdoors and show some love to your pups when you're away. I grew up with multiple dog breeds and now have 2 best buds of my own. I love training with my GSD & taking her out for a run. I’m a full time grad student and volunteer with the animal shelter. Pets are great companions and I want to ensure they are happy as can be. I look forward to meeting your furbabies and taking them out for some tail-wagging fun!

I am a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor. I have owned dogs my entire life and enjoy their company. I currently own two rescues. “Dogs are my kind of people!”

I have over 20 years of experience owning, caring for and training many breeds of dog. I graduated with a BS in Zoology because working with animals has always been a passion of mine. My previous work as a veterinary technician has given me the insight required to properly care for and respect each dog’s individual needs. Dogs hold a special place in my heart, so I’m thrilled to have a job that gives me the opportunity to make them smile everyday.

As a long-time pet owner, and former animal nurse and dog trainer, I know just how important our pets are to us. And, as a teacher, I understand how much trust is required to share your children (2-legged or 4-legged) with a stranger, and what an amazing gift - and responsibility - this is. My general philosophy is to treat all beings with respect and empathy, and to look for qualities to appreciate, praise, and be grateful for. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff! As a walker, I let the dog dictate the exercise intensity and provide water breaks as needed. After walks, I provide fresh water and give a light massage to promote calm and relaxation. I also give puppies a gentle "pat-down" (check teeth, eyes, ears, palpate abdomen, lift tail, check unmentionables, and handle all 4 paws) to simulate and accustom them to vet and groomer handling. I'm currently working toward a Master's degree in teaching, so I'm a GREAT sitter because I can spend a lot of time with your pup while I study. And, of course, I need to take frequent breaks to rest my brain, which is perfectly accomplished by taking a walk, playing, giving a doggy massage, doing some doga (doggy yoga), or simply cuddling. My training, education, and 25-ish years of experience with dogs allow me to provide special assistance such as dispensing medications or supporting an established training or behavior modification program. I'm also able to handle dogs that less experienced walkers may find difficult to work with. I love the special connection that I've have with dogs since childhood, and I'm so grateful to have found Wag! because I'm able to share that connection while serving my community - AND I get paid for it! Thank you for using Wag!, and for providing pet-lovers like me with a fun, fulfilling job!

Dog Boarding in Alpine

The Alpine area is a quiet playground with plenty of hidden oppawtunities waiting to be discovered.

Fueled by their mission of “saving one small tail at a time,” Small Tails Best Friend Rescue is committed to saving dogs from high kill shelters and pairing them with their forever homes. They spay and neuter all their rescue animals and give them all of their shots. They even micro-chip all the animals so they can help keep their dogs safe. Small Tails Best Friend rescue has paired over 150 animals with their fur-ever homes and families.

Part dog resort, part rescue, Four Paws Pet Rescue believes every dog deserves a loving family and home. Located east of Alpine, the non-profit functions entirely on volunteer power and all donations go toward medical, physical, and emotional needs of the animals at the rescue. Although they specialize in the Coonhound breed, they rescue a slew of other breeds of all sizes and take in many dogs that have medical issues.

The Koalition of Rescuers and Animal Lovers’ mission is to help give a second change to shelter animals, especially those on a euthanasia list. They are committed to serving underserved, neglected, unwanted, and/or abused animals and are devoted to implementing efforts to increase awareness of responsible pet ownership, promote animal welfare, cruelty prevention, and voluntary public service.

Although not a traditional animal rescue, Shelter Pet Partners has been saving animal lives since 2003. This non-profit partners with other area shelters and rescues “at risk” animals from the shelters and brings them into their care. Once back to health, Shelter Pet Partners then fosters dogs in various homes while they find their perfect family and home.

A passionate, volunteer-run non-profit, The Barking Lot animal rescue has taken in over 5,000 dogs since it opened in 2010. Their mission is to find happy forever families for abandoned dogs at kill shelters. The Barking Lot’s most recent achievement was in late 2016, when they partnered with Soi Dog Foundation, a Thailand-based non-profit devoted to improving the welfare of dogs and cats in Asia. They’ve rescued and flown in one group of dogs every month since the partnership
