Hi, I’m Aaron, very nice to meet you and your best friend and can’t wait to walk your pup! I grew up in small town central IL taking care of multiple black labs. Almost 6 years ago, I took in a shelter dog named Addie and her and I have been walking and hiking and playing fetch ever since. I’m looking forward to walking your little (or big!) family member with the same love and care I share with my Addie. Thanks for reading my profile.

Homeless animals in Peoria, Illinois are lucky to have two great animal shelters in the area that will provide them with food and care until they can be placed into new, loving homes. TAPS No-Kill Animal Shelter and Stray Animal Midway Shelter help these animals and prevent them from suffering on the streets.
TAPS No-Kill Animal Shelter is located in Pekin, Illinois, which is very near Peoria. TAPS, which stands for Tazewell Animal Protective Society, is on a mission to help companion animals find a second chance at life. As a no-kill animal shelter, all the animals at TAPS are cared for until they can be placed in new homes. To help prevent more unwanted animals from being dumped on the streets, TAPS offers educational services to pet owners and low-cost spaying and neutering services. With a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, TAPS is able to care for hundreds of animals each year.
Stray Animal Midway Shelter, often referred to as SAMS, is a no-kill animal shelter in Hanna City (also close to Peoria) that opened in 2010 with the goal of helping reduce the number of homeless animals in the Central Illinois region. SAMS offers low-cost spay and neuter services to prevent more unwanted animals from roaming the streets, while still caring for all the animals that need help now. Since the shelter opened, the organization has helped more than 750 animals find new homes without resorting to euthanasia to make more room for future animals. SAMS is a non-profit organization that relies on donations and fundraising to help the animals of the area.
