I am a proud dog parent of two; Lady, my 7 year old mini-dachshund and Coco, my 2 year old Rat Terrier/MinPin/Chihuahua rescue. I’ve lived with and cared for several dogs, big and small throughout my adult life and absolutely love the company and joy dogs bring. I’m an animal lover through and through - I’ll be celebrating my 3 year anniversary on a 100% plant-based diet in the coming months. I take excellent care of my dogs and often get compliments on how well behaved they are with other animals and people alike. I know how special and dear pets are to people’s hearts and take care of anyone’s pet like they are my own. I live within walking distance of several parks and am an avid hiker in the Bay Area, often bringing my dogs. My schedule is very flexible as I currently work independently in freelance film production and for a media strategies nonprofit from home.

About Dog Training in Alhambra, CA

Training Fun Fact #1:

Looking for a new trick to try? Train your dog to bring you their bowl at dinnertime! This trick not only leads to a tasty reward, but it also builds on other essential commands. Start out in a distraction-free environment and an empty bowl. This works best when your pooch has a slight appetite. Keep treats handy and encourage your dog to touch the bowl with their nose. When they do, reward them with a treat. Once they know what to do, pick up the bowl and move it. Keep practicing, adding in a verbal cue and encouraging your dog to pick up the bowl and bring it to you. Once they realize this trick gets them dinner, they should get the hang of it in no time flat.

Training Fun Fact #2:

Whittier Narrows Recreation Area is an unmissable attraction for pups and people alike. This vast park is packed with amenities and activities. Equestrian centers, sports fields, fishing lakes, shooting ranges — you name it, Whittier probably has it! Got a shy Sheltie on your paws who’s not comfortable in busy environments buzzing with human activity? Train your dog how to be calm around strangers before your visit. Invite a friend or family member to assist. When the stranger arrives, ignore overreactions and reward calm. It’s important for you to stay calm as well. Reacting to your dog shows them their behavior gets your attention, which is rewarding in itself.

Training Fun Fact #3:

Did you know that the rescue is California’s official state dog? This is to encourage Californians to adopt, not shop! If you’ve recently adopted a dog from your local shelter, you might find training a little difficult. After all, it might take a while to earn your rescue’s trust. Enlist the help of a dog trainer near you to train your rescue dog to sit and other obedience essentials.
