I am a proud dog parent of two; Lady, my 7 year old mini-dachshund and Coco, my 2 year old Rat Terrier/MinPin/Chihuahua rescue. I’ve lived with and cared for several dogs, big and small throughout my adult life and absolutely love the company and joy dogs bring. I’m an animal lover through and through - I’ll be celebrating my 3 year anniversary on a 100% plant-based diet in the coming months. I take excellent care of my dogs and often get compliments on how well behaved they are with other animals and people alike. I know how special and dear pets are to people’s hearts and take care of anyone’s pet like they are my own. I live within walking distance of several parks and am an avid hiker in the Bay Area, often bringing my dogs. My schedule is very flexible as I currently work independently in freelance film production and for a media strategies nonprofit from home.

Hi Wag! My name is Viviana and I have lived in Culver City my whole life so I know the area pretty well and it's surroundings. Both of my parents are big animal lovers as am I. I've grown up with terriers, a beagle, a Yorkie and also a husky! I have worked at a dog daycare for 2 years and I've volunteered at NKLA for a year and a half. Due to my coursework at SMC, I am dedicating my time for school, however, would love the opportunity to meet your dog on my days off and study breaks!

About Dog Training in Glendale, CA

Training Fun Fact #1:

Do you have a hard time coaxing your dog to go into the grooming salon? Do they whine all the way there? The key to avoiding the grooming blues is getting your dog used to the process when they are young. Step one: brush your dog often at home. Other points include finding a groomer that both you and your dog love. As well, bathe your pup outside in a baby pool to make it fun and then gradually move them inside to the tub for the colder days.

Training Fun Fact #2:

Puppies have razor-sharp teeth. They can chew through just about anything they want to. Biting and using their teeth can become a habit that gets worse with time if not nipped in the bud early. How to train your dog not to bite? Redirect them to other pastimes like playing with toys, and react the same way every time your pooch bites. Lastly,  train them to be obedient, so they know to listen to your requests.

Training Fun Fact #3:

When you walk your dog, are they all over the place? Do they walk in front of you as opposed to nicely alongside? There is a safety aspect to this behavior. The pet owner should always be in control of the pooch they are walking in the event of meeting up with a person or dog. Not only that, but the pet parent also needs to be the leader of the pack. Try the Red Light Green Light Method for a fun way to make walks safe.

Average Cost of Dog Training in Glendale, CA

Dogs that are trained are happier in general. That is because they gain confidence from knowing their place and being socialized. Pack cooperation is important to canines, and you are part of your dog’s pack.

To train your dog in Glendale, you have to consider the needs of your pup. Local dog trainers can help assess that and then work with your dog to make progress in a way that your pooch will love. Group classes are a terrific option that many dogs enjoy, and it's evident to anyone watching the fun. These courses allow your pupster to make friends and reach for the top of the class. The fees average around $125, with sessions lasting between 4 and 6 weeks.

Private in-home training is a great way to boost your dog’s independence. In Glendale, pet parents can expect to pay between $125 and $225 per hour for one on one instruction with a trainer. Some owners choose to board and train as a way to see their dog learn the ropes of behavior. This overnight experience lasts from a week to a month typically and will depend on what your dog needs to learn. Fees average $3500 for a month-long stay.

Training your dog is always fun but does require commitment and consistency. Missing a class can cause your dog to struggle the following week. If your lifestyle is such that attending a weekly class is a problem, keep this in mind.

Convenient in-home private training is easily booked with a dog trainer with Wag! and is affordable at just $60 per one-hour session. Download the Wag! app to book your furry companion’s first lesson at a time that fits your schedule.

Going Off-Leash in Glendale, CA

Glendale is a lovely city within close distance of the Verdugo Mountains. This means incredible sights once the fog lifts in the morning. Are you and Fido up for a challenging trek? Mount Lukens is just the place for dogs and owners who are fit and ready to climb an exceptionally scenic route. Views of Strawberry Peak, Josephine Peak, and Condor Peak will be the reward.

If you are planning a park adventure, why not make your way to Pasadena?  Alice Frost Kennedy Dog Park (at Vina Vieja Park) is a pawsome place for pups of any size to hang out. Separate enclosures for small and big dogs let everyone play at their own pace, and the grass underfoot means that dogs won’t cut their feet.

Remember, to enjoy the trails and parks in Glendale and surrounding areas, your dog has to be licensed and leashed. As always, pick up after your pooch, no matter if you are hiking a quiet trail or walking in the city. And, keep your dog healthy by taking them to the vet annually for a basic checkup and dental care.

Dog Training in Glendale, CA

Glendale has excellent hiking opportunities, and it’s not uncommon to see dogs of every kind walking along paths and trails. Dog trainers with Wag! can often be seen out for exercise, training their own furry charges in leash etiquette and meet and greet manners.

What kinds of dogs do these enthusiastic trainers own? The tiny Chihuahua is a popular pick in Glendale, and that is no surprise. They may be small, but they are just as keen to go on a hike as a big dog is. However, the pace may be a bit slower due to sheer size.

Bigger dogs on the list that like to hike are the German Shepherd and American Pit Bull Terrier. Both being strong and sturdy canines, proper leash etiquette is a must. Have you ever tried to handle a dog that pulls when walking? It makes the promenade a drag for dog owners and pets alike. Train your pooch from day one to not pull on their leash by making walks a pleasant experience, but also one with focus and obedience when required.

Have your dog walk calmly alongside you when it’s walk-time and burn off steam when the atmosphere is perfect, such as at an off-leash beach near home.

Is your furry BFF ready to start doggo school? Reach out to a dog trainer with Wag! to book your dog’s first lesson and watch them succeed!
