I am a proud dog parent of two; Lady, my 7 year old mini-dachshund and Coco, my 2 year old Rat Terrier/MinPin/Chihuahua rescue. I’ve lived with and cared for several dogs, big and small throughout my adult life and absolutely love the company and joy dogs bring. I’m an animal lover through and through - I’ll be celebrating my 3 year anniversary on a 100% plant-based diet in the coming months. I take excellent care of my dogs and often get compliments on how well behaved they are with other animals and people alike. I know how special and dear pets are to people’s hearts and take care of anyone’s pet like they are my own. I live within walking distance of several parks and am an avid hiker in the Bay Area, often bringing my dogs. My schedule is very flexible as I currently work independently in freelance film production and for a media strategies nonprofit from home.

About Dog Training in Lawndale, CA

Training Fun Fact #1:

Any budding botanist will know having a dog around can cause problems for your precious plants. Some species are also poisonous to pups, so you'll want to train your dogs not to chew on your plants. If possible, you'll want to reduce temptation by moving your plants out of your dog's reach. You can also try the “leave it” method, and use treats and positive reinforcement to help keep your dog distracted and away from your flowers. This command can take three months to perfect. Regardless of how well-trained your pup is, you should still keep any poisonous plants away from your canine compadre.

Training Fun Fact #2:

Dogs can be helpful in a variety of ways, and if you're always misplacing your phone, your pup can help you out! This trick will take up to 6 weeks to master, but can be super helpful if you're a bit forgetful. You'll want to familiarize your pooch with your phone, hide it somewhere, and then use “yes” as an indicator when they get closer. If your dog finds your cell phone, give them plenty of pets and treats to indicate a job well done.

Training Fun Fact #3:

If you're worried about somebody breaking into your house, you can quickly teach your pooch to bark at intruders. First, your mutt will need to learn to bark on command using toys and treats. Once they've mastered this step, try and get your dog to bark without using stimuli to rile them up. You'll want to use a command just before they bark so they associate this command with barking. Give your dog a treat whenever they bark when a stranger is at your door, but avoid rewarding them when barking at family and friends so they learn the difference. This trick is easy for dogs to learn and can take less than a week for puppies.

Usually, you can book several classes and get a slight discount.

A lot of pet parents would prefer to attend group puppy training and obedience classes, as they tend to be less expensive than private sessions. Going Off-Leash in Lawndale, CA

Unfortunately, you and Fido won't find any dog parks directly in Lawndale. However, there are still a few nearby dog parks where your pup can show off their new training. Before setting out on your walk, make sure your dog up has up-to-date vaccinations and that the park you’re visiting doesn't require a membership to enter. You'll always want to check the park rules before heading out, as all parks are different.

The Polliwog Dog Park in Manhattan Beach is one of the biggest and best parks near Lawndale. It features two spacious dog runs to keep large and small pups separate. Only 20 dogs are allowed in the park at once, ensuring your pooch has space to run free. After a bit of off-leash time, plan a stroll down the park's many walking trails that lead past a pond, amphitheater, and fitness area.

Another terrific dog park is the Redondo Beach Dog Park in Redondo Beach. Located in Dominguez Park, this dog park also features two dog runs: one for small dogs and one for large dogs.
