I have been working in the pet care industry for approximately seven years now. I managed a daycare and pet boarding facility for four years and prior to that, I was a Kennel Supervisor for two years with a facility located in New Hampshire. More recently, I have worked as a Vet Tech in a general practice and emergency setting, as well as with a local animal shelter. Working as a Vet Tech has provided me with the opportunity to gain the knowledge and hands on experience of the medical aspect involved in providing care to both canines and felines. I have aspired to work with animals since I was a child and have always had a true passion toward them. I have years of experience in a canine pack environment, as well as one on one with most dog breeds. I also have personal experience, as I have two rescue dogs of my own. I feel this is very important when dealing with a client's pet, as it provides the assurance that their pet is in good hands. In addition to dogs, I have grown up living with cats my whole life. I also have worked with cats in both shelter and veterinary settings. From a ferrel cat to a lap cat, I have experienced both, yet love them all the same! I can confidently medicate any animal if necessary, including pilling to providing insulin injections. My main focus is currently working in the animal care field and furthering my education with my CVT. I absolutely love working in an environment where the focus is caring for animals. My ultimate goal is to own a rescue some day. I feel as though my passion for animals and my prior experience would be a great match for you and your pet! I look forward to hearing from you regarding your furry family members' needs!

“Every dog’s different & all deserve the same love!”

I‘ve been a Wag! Walker for year & have been an avid dog lover all my life! I’ve had two very different dogs; my first was a German Shepherd named Tash, a beautiful dog with enormous strength—so rewarding to train and be around. I currently own a finicky, anxious Mini Pinscher who I adore! I know Boston well and have been around animals my entire life, so I know how to earn a dog’s trust before taking control of the leash. I believe in positive reinforcement with dogs, & I think they do too!

About Dog Training in Everett, MA 02149

Training Fun Fact #1:

Rumney Marsh Reservation is just a bone’s throw from Everett and a popular hiking spot with local pooches and people. It can be tempting to let your pupper roam free in this expansive wilderness. However, this habitat is considered critically endangered, so enjoy it responsibly with Sparky. Got a hunting dog whose natural instincts cause them to tear off after critters? One trick to training your dog to ignore squirrels, rabbits, and other small prey is to pay attention to their body language. Notice if they freeze with their ears pricked up or bark uncontrollably when they spot a small animal. Keep control and divert their attention with a loud, unpleasant noise, like hissing or clapping.

Training Fun Fact #2:

Everett has all the amenities your dog need to stay happy and healthy, including veterinarians, groomers, and pet stores. If your dog sulks at the mere mention of the word “groomer”, teach your dog the “stand” command. This is method for training your dog to sit still while grooming. Have your dog sit, then place your hand under their belly. Gently press so they’re standing, add in the “stand” verbal cue, then reward them with a treat. Keep practicing, increasing the duration gradually, before introducing the grooming tools. Distractions and positive association methods also work well.

Training Fun Fact #3:

The huge selection of dog-friendly attractions in Boston makes it a must for a weekend of Fido-friendly fun. One way to see the city (and whales!) from a different perspective is on a dog-friendly, whale-watching boat tour of Boston Harbor. If your dog’s never ridden in a boat before, it might be a good idea to introduce them to a motorized boat before your cruise. If that’s not an option, another way to train your dog to ride in a boat is to make sure their socialization skills are up to scratch. Boat tours of Boston Harbor are typically pretty busy, so good behavior is essential. Be sure to contact the tour operator ahead of time for more info on dog-friendly tours and pet policies.

Going Off-Leash in Everett, MA

Off-leash dog parks are the perfect place to test out your dog’s newly acquired skills. As long as you follow standard dog park etiquette by picking up after your pooch and supervising them at all times, it’s a great way to socialize and reinforce their behavior and commands.

You’ll find plenty of off-leash areas within easy driving distance of Everett, including Stodder’s Neck. One of the most popular dog parks near Everett, Stodder’s Neck comes complete with a swimming area where your pal can splash and paddle. While the doggos that play here are generally well-behaved, you’ll want to make sure your dog’s manners and recall command is solid. This park is usually packed during its opening hours, so you’ll also want to make sure your canine is comfortable in the crowded setting.

The Peter’s Park is another firm favorite with local and visitors alike. With separate areas for large and small breeds and plenty of boulders to play on, Spot’s sure to love it. You’ll usually find a pack of other pups (and people!) to make friends with here, so good socialization skills are a must.
