I have been working in the pet care industry for approximately seven years now. I managed a daycare and pet boarding facility for four years and prior to that, I was a Kennel Supervisor for two years with a facility located in New Hampshire. More recently, I have worked as a Vet Tech in a general practice and emergency setting, as well as with a local animal shelter. Working as a Vet Tech has provided me with the opportunity to gain the knowledge and hands on experience of the medical aspect involved in providing care to both canines and felines. I have aspired to work with animals since I was a child and have always had a true passion toward them. I have years of experience in a canine pack environment, as well as one on one with most dog breeds. I also have personal experience, as I have two rescue dogs of my own. I feel this is very important when dealing with a client's pet, as it provides the assurance that their pet is in good hands. In addition to dogs, I have grown up living with cats my whole life. I also have worked with cats in both shelter and veterinary settings. From a ferrel cat to a lap cat, I have experienced both, yet love them all the same! I can confidently medicate any animal if necessary, including pilling to providing insulin injections. My main focus is currently working in the animal care field and furthering my education with my CVT. I absolutely love working in an environment where the focus is caring for animals. My ultimate goal is to own a rescue some day. I feel as though my passion for animals and my prior experience would be a great match for you and your pet! I look forward to hearing from you regarding your furry family members' needs!

“Every dog’s different & all deserve the same love!”

I‘ve been a Wag! Walker for year & have been an avid dog lover all my life! I’ve had two very different dogs; my first was a German Shepherd named Tash, a beautiful dog with enormous strength—so rewarding to train and be around. I currently own a finicky, anxious Mini Pinscher who I adore! I know Boston well and have been around animals my entire life, so I know how to earn a dog’s trust before taking control of the leash. I believe in positive reinforcement with dogs, & I think they do too!

About Dog Training in Melrose, MA

Training Fun Fact #1:

Most puppers reach emotional maturity by the time they are two years old. Has your dog moved way beyond those years without seeming to grow out of their destructive puppy stage at all? It’s entirely possible that they are acting out of boredom. It could be that they are a breed or mix that needs intensive exercise. Try taking them to a flyball course and see if that is the solution!

Training Fun Fact #2:

You may wonder if dogs can get the same illnesses as people can. Indeed, many of the diseases seen in humans and canines are very similar. Diabetes is a prime example. If you see your dog is listless, losing appetite, and peeing often, they may have this insulin imbalance. Rather than attributing your dog’s behavior to moodiness when you are working too much, always take a dog to the vet in every instance. Dogs are pretty forgiving, and if they don’t snap out of a behavior, take them for a checkup.

Training Fun Fact #3:

Have you ever laid eyes on a Crestoxie? This unusual hybrid mix is the combination of the Chinese Crested Dog and the Dachshund. They are typically small in height and long in body. This makes them the ideal dog for training in a sport like agility. They’ll ace the army crawl as both breeds were once pros at chasing and flushing vermin.

Average Cost of Dog Training in Melrose, MA

Do you have an active dog who often gets out of hand when on a walk? Or do you avoid the dog park because your dog does not have the skills to get along with other pampered pooches? If the answer is yes, it’s time to consider dog training.

Dog trainers in Melrose are knowledgeable and equipped to help you with whatever your dog needs. Group classes can help a dog lacking in social skills to be brought up to snuff. Expect to pay between $100 and $200 for a course lasting between 4 and 6 weeks. Before you decide on a location, feel free to leave your pup at home and go to a class to observe a trainer’s techniques.

Some pet parents think they just don’t have the time to train, and choose to send their dogs off for a board and train course. Dogs are packed up and sent on a working holiday at the trainer’s home, where they work side by side with the instructor. Skills taught are everything from how to resist counter surfing to walking on a leash with the best manners. Fees in Melrose average around $1500 for a two-week stay, often with email and phone support included.

Private in-home dog training is a popular alternative because your pooch will learn in the confines of home and associate good behavior with their familiar environment. In Melrose, private instruction averages around $135 per hour. Sometimes travel fees and a preliminary consultation are added to the price.

Look to the Wag! app to connect with the best local dog trainer for you. Dog trainers with Wag! tailor each session to the specific needs of your pet, and the lessons are given when it suits your schedule. At $60 per one-hour session, it is an affordable way to train your dog. Not only that, but it’s also a convenient way to book subsequent sessions, too.

Going Off-Leash in Melrose, MA

Melrose is a dog-friendly city with plenty of fantastic choices for walking, and even more exciting destinations for relaxing on a patio afterward! To be welcomed just about anywhere in Melrose, make sure that your well-behaved dog is licensed and vaccinated for rabies. All of the other pups will have to do the same thing, making for a safe environment for all.

Your dog has to be kept on their leash at all times while out and about in the city. The same goes for when you are visiting nearby neighborhoods. Boston is less than 20 minutes away and well worth the short car drive. Your energetic pup will love Rose Kennedy Greenway. It’s a destination where you and your favorite four legger can spend the entire day if you wish. Meander a canal, watch an outdoor concert, and at certain times of year, you can peruse the farmers market.

Does your dog like to jog alongside you while you bike? Cycle over to Malden and check out Pine Dog Park. It’s an off-leash space with separate enclosures for big and small dogs. Your pup will love the freedom to run and can practice the socialization skills learned in obedience class. After a day of biking and playing with other dogs, your furry companion will be ready to cuddle on the couch for a movie night and some dog-safe treats.

A well-trained dog is a joy to own. And what can beat the loyalty and enthusiasm of a canine? Reward them for being so special by taking them to dog training and letting them reach for the top!

Dog Training in Melrose, CA

Every city in the United States has its list of favorite furry friends, and Melrose is no different. After all, Melrose is described by residents as a very walkable city, so why not have Fido in tow?

The Dachshund is on the list of popular pooches in Melrose and surrounding areas. This low to the ground dog has a spritely walk and is eager to play with other pups at every opportunity. The Doxie loves to dig, so if you have a garden, give them a little space off to the side to do their digging while you plant flowers.

Also on the list are the two top retrievers in the U.S., the Golden Retriever, and the Labrador Retriever. Both breeds love life in Melrose, especially the opportunity to trek the trails and paths of the greenspaces.

The Poodle can be seen prancing around Melrose, happy to show their skills when it comes to tricks like the weave poles and bar jumps. They also handle tough tasks like scent work and dock jumping very well. In other words, they are keen to try anything asked of them.

What’s your dog’s preferred pastime? If you haven’t yet discovered it, train them in the basics of obedience with a dog trainer with Wag! in preparation for joining a fun club. The exercise will do your pup good!
