I have been working in the pet care industry for approximately seven years now. I managed a daycare and pet boarding facility for four years and prior to that, I was a Kennel Supervisor for two years with a facility located in New Hampshire. More recently, I have worked as a Vet Tech in a general practice and emergency setting, as well as with a local animal shelter. Working as a Vet Tech has provided me with the opportunity to gain the knowledge and hands on experience of the medical aspect involved in providing care to both canines and felines. I have aspired to work with animals since I was a child and have always had a true passion toward them. I have years of experience in a canine pack environment, as well as one on one with most dog breeds. I also have personal experience, as I have two rescue dogs of my own. I feel this is very important when dealing with a client's pet, as it provides the assurance that their pet is in good hands. In addition to dogs, I have grown up living with cats my whole life. I also have worked with cats in both shelter and veterinary settings. From a ferrel cat to a lap cat, I have experienced both, yet love them all the same! I can confidently medicate any animal if necessary, including pilling to providing insulin injections. My main focus is currently working in the animal care field and furthering my education with my CVT. I absolutely love working in an environment where the focus is caring for animals. My ultimate goal is to own a rescue some day. I feel as though my passion for animals and my prior experience would be a great match for you and your pet! I look forward to hearing from you regarding your furry family members' needs!

“Every dog’s different & all deserve the same love!”

I‘ve been a Wag! Walker for year & have been an avid dog lover all my life! I’ve had two very different dogs; my first was a German Shepherd named Tash, a beautiful dog with enormous strength—so rewarding to train and be around. I currently own a finicky, anxious Mini Pinscher who I adore! I know Boston well and have been around animals my entire life, so I know how to earn a dog’s trust before taking control of the leash. I believe in positive reinforcement with dogs, & I think they do too!

About Dog Training in Watertown, MA

Training Fun Fact #1:

Boston Terriers easily snort and snuff their way into the hearts of pet parents, almost without even trying! These dogs may look rather comical and act like the life of the party in every gathering, but they have a serious side, too. The Boston Terrier’s unique tuxedo markings and amicable personality have earned them the nickname of American Gentleman. Take them to obedience school and see how long it takes them to become teacher’s pet!

Training Fun Fact #2:

Have you just welcomed your new furry BFF into your home? Patience and persistence are key words to remember when teaching a puppy or older rescue dog the ins and outs of your home. Learning to not pee in the house is typically one of the first tasks at hand and can be a challenge at times. Give your dog plenty of outdoor time and praise them when they pee outside. Don’t worry, they will get the hang of it.

Training Fun Fact #3:

Puppies and mature mutts alike love to get into mischief. And who can blame them if they are left to their own devices all day? Dogs notorious for redecorating the house with their own design of destruction are at both ends of the scale. The giant Great Dane has been known to break a thing or two, and the tiny Chihuahua has sharp teeth that can chew through just about anything. What is the remedy? Provide these dogs with interactive toys and feeders when you have to leave home for a bit.

Average Cost of Dog Training in Watertown, MA

It’s a known fact that dogs of all breeds and sizes thrive when given a chance to learn and be challenged. Doing it right is essential, and that’s why learning from a qualified instructor in Watertown is the way to go.

Dogs who love to be in the center of the action with lots of noise and activity will be thrilled with a group class. Prices for lessons given in a group setting average around $250 for a series of lessons over 4 to 6 weeks. Does your pooch need to learn how to interact with other dogs? Training alongside other canines will help them gain confidence and also give them skills on how to get along.

Board and train is an option often taken by pet parents who are too busy to train their dogs, or have puppers with issues like fear or lunging when on a leash. Doggos pack up their favorite food bowls and head off to the trainer’s home for one on one instruction. Two weeks of this type of training will cost around $2000.

Is your dog shy or of the younger set? In this case, in-home training is often the answer. Individual attention can help timid dogs find their way and gain the independence that is so essential at the dog park. In Watertown, private dog training lessons will cost between $125 and $250. A pre-training consultation is sometimes required so the trainer can fine-tune the experience to your dog’s need.

Going Off-Leash in Watertown, MA

Watertown is a fun place for dogs and pet parents alike. This quaint town is a history lover’s paradise with plenty of opportunities for you and Fido to see the past. Did you know that Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is buried in Watertown? This is one monument you cannot view with your dog, though, as canines are not allowed in cemeteries.

Other rules for doggos include they must be leashed in public places and have visible rabies and license tags on their collar. Make sure these rules are followed and then enjoy Watertown’s green spaces to the fullest.

If you and your furry best buddy are fans of walking, take the time to admire the historic mansions and houses seen all over town. Practice your dog’s obedience skills with a dog trainer with Wag! as part of the tour.

Afterward, reward your super pup with playtime at the park. Grab a ball and bring it along for a game of fetch at nearby Old Cold Spring Dog Park in Newton. Two acres of grass, woods, and mud make this a fine place for a dog that loves to get dirty. The area put aside for doggos is mostly fenced, but the odd pooch or two has been known to escape. Train your dog to follow you so that they don’t get themselves in trouble by heading the wrong way.

If your dog still has energy to burn, make your next stop Arlington. Minuteman Bikeway Trail is just the place to tire your dog out, with ten miles of exciting and challenging treks to attempt. Does your four-legged hiking companion like to explore wetlands? Keep them on a leash, but let them sniff and check things out as you meander the path.

Dog Training in Watertown, MA

What breeds of dogs are seen on the trails and in the parks of Watertown? Athletic dogs are a big hit in this pretty town, particularly the Golden and Labrador Retrievers. With university campuses like Princeton and MIT nearby in Cambridge, sports are at the forefront in this college town.

The Labrador Retriever is always game to take part in activities. Described as playful and kind, the Lab is keen to bond over a football game on one of the campuses. Bring them along and even toss a ball or two in between quarters.
