Dog Areas in Alexander

Located in Buncombe County, the town of Alexander, North Carolina is officially listed as an “unincorporated community.” This means that, while Alexander isn’t in the municipality, it is still considered to be under the county’s jurisdiction. Alexander is a quiet place, with locals calling it the “gem of North Carolina.”

Unfortunately, it might not be a gem for pet owners. Alexander has no veterinarians, no dog-friendly restaurants, and no dog parks. The best you can do is taking your dog for a walk down the streets. Fear not, though! Alexander is only about fifteen minutes from Weaverville and only twenty minutes from Asheville, both of which are full of dog-friendly eateries and recreation! Both also have several different options to choose from when looking for a veterinarian, so you know you can get the best care for your pup by finding a doctor who just clicks with your pooch. North Carolina is full of quaint, quiet little towns, and Alexander is one of them. Don’t let that distract you from all the fun that’s only a quick trip up the road, though!

Try Twisted Laurel, which dishes up amazing American and Mediterranean dishes. Fido can sit with you on the patio. Dogs will need to be on a leash no matter which establishment you choose.

About twenty minutes from Alexander is Asheville’s Hall Fletcher neighborhood, which is home to French Broad River Dog Park! This popular dog park is known for how beautiful it is. Unlike most dog parks, this bark park doesn’t have separate areas for large and small dogs, so if your pup only gets along with those his own size, you might want to consider that before bringing him. French Broad River Dog Park offers access to the river, so on hot summer days, your dog can make a splash and go for a swim. Your pup is sure to have a ball here!
