Check out one of the area’s largest and most puptacular off-leash dog areas in Bend’s Pine Nursery neighborhood, about 16 miles from Alfalfa! The 159-acre Pine Nursery Park is home to the Bob Wenger Off-Leash Area, a fully enclosed 14-acre park where you and Fido can enjoy a hike together on the nature trail, play fetch in the grass, sniff around tons of trees, or cool off in the mist that emits from the fire hydrants on hot days! All this fun, and beautiful views of the snowcapped Cascade Mountains on the horizon! The rest of Pine Nursery Park is pretty pawsome, too, with a huge playground, playfields, a fishing pond, a disc golf course, walking trails and more! This neighborhood is also where you’ll find Big Sky Park.

Orchard
Looking for a hike with puptacular views? Check out Bend’s Orchard neighborhood, about 16 miles from Alfalfa! There, you and your pooch will find Pilot Butte Neighborhood Park. This is a furrific place to start your adventure as it’s located at the base of Pilot Butte and has a picnic area and restrooms. From there, hop on the 1.8-mile Pilot Butte Trail that winds up and around Bend’s iconic geological highpoint. The dirt trail offers unique views of the beautiful city, as well as the stunning Cascade Mountains on the horizon as you make your way through juniper stands. You and your pup will feel quite accomplished at the top as you take in the views and check out the interpretive signs! For other furrific parks in this neighborhood, visit the Laurel Pocket Park, Hollinshead Park, Orchard Park, Stover Park and Juniper Park.

Larkspur
Another pawsome dog park awaits you and your furry friend in Bend’s Larkspur neighborhood, about 16 miles from Alfalfa! Ponderosa Park has a four-acre enclosed off-leash area where your pup can play off some energy and socialize with new whiskery faces! This park is a woofderful place to visit on warm days as there’s tons of huge shady trees to keep things cool during Fido’s playtime. There’s a walking path within the off-leash area, plus a longer, paved trail outside where you and your leashed dog can wander together. The park also has doggie waste cleanup stations and a water spigot. The rest of Ponderosa Park is neat, too! There’s tons of grass, a huge picnic pavilion, restrooms and a playground. This neighborhood is also home to Kiwanis Park, Larkspur Park, Gardenside Park and Woodland Pond Park.

This area is home to Sawyer Park, a woofderful 45-acre natural space nestled on the banks of the Deschutes River.
