Apple Valley may be the backdrop for dozens of famous TV shows and Hollywood movies, but it can easily be the set for your next adventure alongside your four-legged sidekick! With stunning mountain views and beautiful sunshine, Apple Valley is the place to be.
If you're looking for space to play, try out the Apple Valley Dog Park. Separated into a large dog area and a small dog area, this fenced-in park is the perfect spot to let Fido off-leash. There's also the Civic Center Dog Park, located on the western side of town. Locals love the water fountains and pet fountains, as well as the company of friendly regulars.
For a short hike, check out Bell Mountain. Though it's just under a mile long, this trail is rated as difficult and should only be attempted by those ready for a tough workout. The top of the mountain provides gorgeous panoramic views of the valley - well worth the trek up.
Need something a little easier? Try the Heart Rock Trail. At just over 1.5 miles, this gently sloping path leads to a waterfall and some very unique rock formations. For a longer trail, try the 3.6-mile Deep Creek Trail. This trail is renowned for its' abundant hot springs - truly a sight to see in the California desert.
Located in the beautiful San Bernadino County of California is Apple Valley. One of the greatest dog parks in the area is contained in the Civic Center Park area of the city. The Civic Center Dog park is separated by dog size. One large part of the park is home to dogs that are under twenty-five pounds while the other is home to larger dogs. Each part of the park comes with doggie fountains, drinking water fountains and waste clean-up locations. This is great place to read a book and relax while your puppy chills in the warm California sun for a bit.
An hour drive from the center of Apple Valley is the city of Redlands, California. Here you will find doggie heaven on earth at the Redlands Dog Park. The park is not only full of lush green grasslands but also has an abundance of beautiful trees. The park itself has amenities for puppies and their owners in the form of drinking fountains and waste pickup tools. Because of the size and popularity of the park, it can get a bit crowded at peak times. This is a great way to get your dog into socializing with other dogs and people!

If you’re willing to drive only forty minutes from your home in Apple Valley, you’ll arrive at the scenic Big Bear Lake. Located within the vicinity of the natural preserve is a dog park called Bark Park. What makes this park special is that there is no grass in the park, only sand. Also, only children over twelve years are allowed in the park so you won’t have to worry about your dog running around with abandon sniffing everyone in sight!
Located a mere hour away from Apple Valley is the San Dimas Dog Park within the city of San Dimas. This dog park is known for its cleanliness, vast grasslands and abundance of amenities for dogs and their owners. Unlike other dog parks, this park takes the doggie owners into account by providing them with a large covered area to protect them from the harsh sun while their dog runs free in the park. The park itself has different locations for dogs depending on size. Your dog will easily get to play and socialize with other dogs in the play area.
Only twenty minutes away from Apple Valley is the city of Hesperia, home to one of the best dog parks in the area. Lime Street Park and Community Center is a hidden gem in the city. Families and dog owners flock to the park all year long because of the many playgrounds, pool, sports facilities and grassy fields within the dog park. This is a great destination for a family outing! Walk around the park with your dog on a leash until you hit the dog park and let them run freely! Lime Street Park and Community Center will never disappoint!
