Arroyo Grande, California, is a resort town located on Central Beach and part of San Luis Obispo County. The little city is a well-liked travel destination as it offers a wide variety of different landscapes: woodlands, foothills, dunes, lakes, meadows and of course, Central Beach itself. The easy access to nature and recreational areas also make Arroyo Grande a perfect place to live for dog owners.

There are plenty of dogs in Arroyo Grande and the Five Cities Area. That is why over ten years ago an organization was founded to construct multiple dog parks for the people with dogs in this region. This society, the Five Cities Dog Park Association, raised enough funds to grant Arroyo Grande its own off-leash dog park: Elm Street Dog Park. The dog park is so popular that the city council is looking at renovations to accommodate a larger number of dogs.

One of the treasures in the Arroyo Grande area is Lopez Lake. This lake was formed after the construction of the Lopez Dam on the Arroyo Grande Creek. There is a large recreational area centered around Lopez Lake. There is a large network of bicycle, hiking and equestrian trails that run through this 4,200 area of oak woodland and sage scrub.

There are multiple ways to enjoy a visit to Arroyo Grande, California, with pets. The Best Western Arroyo Grande Inn is located in the city itself while it is also possible to rent a Lopez Lakefront Home in the woodland area outside Arroyo Grande.
