Located near the foothills of two mountain ranges, namely Siskiyou and Cascade, the town of Ashland in Oregon is a gorgeous area near the border to California. Known for its Shakespearean Festival, Ashland's main economy is tourism, but it still values its furry companions. The community looks after its animal citizens with seven veterinarians and clinics right inside the town's borders.

Westwood Park is a wide-open space perfect for some running or fetching with Fido. This small neighborhood park is surrounded by housing with few services, but is an excellent place for a walk. Garfield Park has a large open greenspace for plenty of play time or a leashed walk. Bring along the kiddos to enjoy the splash pad, sports courts, and playground.

After spending your day in the park, stop in at Martino’s & Macaroni’s for a pizza for the gang to share. Or stop in for breakfast with Brothers and try one of their 20 types of omelets. Try Home State BBQ for some antibiotic and growth hormone free BBQ pork, beef, chicken and a great beer selection. All restaurants welcome your pooch with you at the outdoor tables.

Visit Ashland for the beauty of the area, the history, or the Shakespearean Festival. You’ll be glad you did.
