Atlantic City is an island city on the shore of New Jersey, surrounded by swamplands and backed by the Atlantic Ocean to the south. Although the city has some gorgeous scenery and prime real estate, the area is known for being the home of the Miss America pageant, and was the inspiration behind the game Monopoly. For dog lovers, when you pass go with Fido, you'll see more than just rental and real estate properties, but lots of great public parks and a dog-friendly boardwalk.

Uptown Park is the most known park, thanks to its well-developed area and large space with recreational fields. There's a paved walking trail that extends .4 miles around the park. Open space is grassy, with scattered trees for shade, benches for sitting, and water fountains to refresh after a long walk.

The most popular feature of the city is the boardwalk that extends from the east side of the area to the west, with over 5 miles of walking area. The boardwalk looks over the ocean and has lights, benches, and lots of shops along the path. The boardwalk is dog-friendly to leashed pups, but owners still need to bring water and clean-up bags along the way.

Dog owners and walkers will fall in love with Atlantic City, not for its surrounding views, but thanks to its single animal hospital and numerous public parks available, like Brigantine Boulevard Playground and Melrose Park.
