East Hoodsport
Next time your pup wants to spend some time outside, head over to East Hoodsport and venture down the Hoodsport Trails. Located between Hoodsport and Lake Cushman in the Hoodsport Trails Park, these trails are pretty easy, and perfect for a lazy afternoon stroll. There are two loop trails, one is half a mile and the other is 1.5 miles. Your canine companion can get his four legs moving in the fragrant forests. He’ll love walking among the alder and conifer trees and will perk his ears up to the sound of chirping birds. The trailhead has a couple picnic tables, so bring your lunch (and a bone for your pup).

West Hoodsport
Big Creek Campground is only nine miles south of Ayock in West Hoodsport. This dog friendly campground is surrounded by pawsome hikes. For a nice, easygoing walk, follow the Big Creek Campground Trail. It follows the perimeter of the campground and only clocks in at a mile. For a longer hike, check out Upper Big Creek Loop Trail. This four mile loop trail makes its way around the Big Creek Basin. Mount Ellinor is also in the area. The distance to the summit from the lower trailhead is 6.2 miles round trip, while the upper trailhead cuts it down to 3.2 miles.

Only 16 miles north of Ayock in Brinnon, this puptastic state park showcases the famous natural beauty of Washington. The town of Hamma Hamma is about 15 miles west of Ayock, and offers some beautiful hikes in the Olympic National Forest. Jefferson Lake Trail is only about a quarter of a mile, but it leads to a quiet mountain lake with wildlife viewing opportunities. If your pup needs more mileage, check out Jefferson Ridge Trail.
