Linden Park in Birmingham is a six-acre open space that offers a scenic trail along the Rouge River where you can bring your pup, provided he stays leashed. Keep a look out for wildlife such as squirrels, and for the spectacular wildflowers that adorn the banks of the river. Pack yourself a picnic to enjoy while gazing at the water after your walk, and spend some time relaxing under the trees in this lovely green space. From here, it is just a short walk into town, or to another local pup-friendly park, Crestview Park. This neighbourhood park has playground equipment, sports fields and a tennis court, as well as water fountains and restrooms.

Mill Park
Booth Park in Birmingham is a puptastic place to
go for a great family day out. Your dog is welcome to join in the fun, but keep
him leashed at this park. There is trail walk to start off your day that takes you
through wooded areas along the river; out-and-back it takes approximately 30
minutes at an easy pace. Once back at the park, the kids will adore the playground,
labyrinth and tunnel. You can wander through the well-maintained rain gardens
and natural plantings, with a huge variety of plants and wildflowers to admire.
For more park adventures, Quarton Lake Park is also in this neighbourhood, and has more nature trails, a waterfall to check out, and a
fishing pier.

Barnam Park
Hungry? Head over to the Barnham Park area in Birmingham for a
choice of five pup-friendly places to eat. All of these places allows pets in
their outdoor seating areas. Townhouse serves up casual American-style café meals,

Cummingston Park Dog Run in Royal Oak is three miles southeast of Birmingham, and a pawriffic place to let your dog off the lead for a play. Unfortunately, the designated dog park is not fully fenced, so make sure your pup can see you and will obey commands if he starts to wander too far to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit. Once he has had a good play, pop him back on the lead and wander around the wider Cummingston Park. Covering 25 acres, this community park has walking trails, picnic facilities, a sports field and a playground.

The Douglas Evans Nature Preserve in Beverly
Hills, just 3.3 miles southwest of Birmingham, is a beautiful, relaxing place
to go for a nature walk with your pup. Set over 18 acres of conservation land
along the Rouge River, several walking trails will take you through woodland areas,
open grassy fields, and over the water for diverse, but always beautiful scenery.
There is plenty of parking at the entrance and a gravel path to take you into
the other trails. There aren’t any amenities here, so bring plenty of water and clean up bags for
your trip, as well as any snacks you might like to stop and enjoy. Your dog will
love the sights and smells of this park, but keep him leashed at all times.
