Located on the western side of Brookfield, this expansive neighborhood includes one of the area's best parks: Mitchell Park. This incredibly 450-acre park offers numerous things to do for the whole family, including your furry friend. Hike on the seemingly endless trails with your pup, passing through scenic wetlands and prairies. You'll have ample photography opportunities here as well as your pup frolics in the natural beauty of the area. Depending on the season, you and your pup may even be able to catch one of the many concerts the park puts on each year in its arts center! Just a reminder: although the park is considered to be an off-leash dog park, the area is not fenced in, so you may need to keep your pup leashed during your visit if they have a habit of wandering off.

Springdale Road
Located directly adjacent to Brookfield Village, the Springdale Road neighborhood hosts another local favorite park: Fox Brook Park. This incredible 223-acre park is based around a former quarry and includes a beautiful man-made lake, plus a paved walking trail that winds through the area's wetlands and grassy prairies. Fox Brook Park is simply pawfect for any pup who loves the water. Plus, the water here is reportedly much warmer than the nearby Lake Michigan, making it perfect for swimming during the warmer months of May until September. Again, just remember to keep your pup on a leash when out of the water to ensure no one gets loose, as this park is not fenced in.

Council Hills/Fountain Square
Located on the eastern side of Brookfield, the Council Hills/Fountain Square neighborhood is the purrfect place to stop for lunch at a neighborhood favorite dog-friendly restaurant: Portillo's. With more than 10 dog-friendly outdoor tables to choose from, Portillo's is a casual restaurant offering a variety of homemade American cuisine. Their menu consists of various burgers, sandwiches, salads, chili, hot dogs, sausages, chicken, pasta, ribs and more. Just keep in mind your dog will have to wait at the table while you go inside to order, as table service is not included here. Without a doubt, Portillo's has to be on your Brookfield itinerary.
