Dog-friendly event in Brooklyn

Mark your calendars on August 19th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the Great Dog Wash! This fundraiser is being put on by Brooklyn Bark for the Sean Casey Animal Rescue. You can make a suggested donation to the shelter and pamper your best furry pal with a relaxing bath provided by the team at Brooklyn Bark. After your pooch is squeaky clean, you can visit some of the vendors offering things like CBD treats and "dog beer". It’s a great way to support a good cause and make some new furry friends!

You must be 21+ to dine inside, but humans and canines under 21 are more than welcome to dine on the outdoor patio.

Tatiana Grill at Brighton Beach is a dog-friendly spot featuring a beautiful outdoor dining area. It offers ample space for you, your pals, and your furry companion to enjoy together on their boardwalk-style patio. Every table has umbrellas in case of sunny days. Stories about famous dogs in Brooklyn

Tucked within Green-Wood Cemetery in south Brooklyn, a haven for famous figures ranging from artists to politicians, one quiet grave is now gaining newfound attention. Amongst the many monuments stands Rex, a loyal bronze dog statue resting on a stone platform bearing his name. Rex is believed to have belonged to John E. Stow, one of the city’s longest-practicing fruit merchants when he died in 1884. Guarding his owner's plot for over a century near Sycamore and Greenbough Avenues, Rex's enduring presence continues to capture hearts. Around his grave, you’ll find a collection of sticks and branches as offerings of affection from visitors.

Rex is not the sole animal commemorated within the vast 478-acre grounds — several cherished pets found their resting place alongside their owners prior to the 1879 prohibition of animal burials by the cemetery's trustees. 

In Rex's statue, we are reminded that the enduring love of a dog remains eternally steadfast.
