Buckner, Missouri is named after Alexander Buckner. He was a lawyer who took an interest in agriculture and therefore laid the foundation for the city to come to life. The region is known for being on the rail line, but he gave it the purpose for that rail line. Not only did the city then embrace the agriculture, but they also embraced him and made his home a historic site. As you walk through Buckner, you will see many historic signs that describe the town's historical significance.

If you want an unique experience, then you should head over to Buckner Truck and Tractor Pull. They have a display where you can see the tractors and trailers that they use in their show. You may even learn something you didn't know about before. When you're finished, check out the actual show!

For a more adult time, you could stop on over at the Bonehill View Distillery. They have encased a moonshine still right in the heart of an old mill. The building is amazing and authentic but the cocktails are strong and have a kick that can't be beat!

It is never a bad time for Mexican food, just like it is never too far to drive for Mexican food. That is why Chipotle Mexican Grill is always the place to go to eat. It is only about fifteen miles from Buckner. All of their outdoor tables are dog-friendly. You can grab a burrito bowl. Try some fresh tortillas made right there in front of you. Of course, they have tacos and who doesn't want to eat tacos? Still need a reason to go?  Just think of how happy your dog will be in the car on the ride over! Now grab that leash and go get you some chips and salsa.

Fleming Park is the go-to place to get out there and explore nature. There are boat ramps where you and your dog can set sail on fun-filled day enjoying the water. You can walk the trails all you would like. Of course, you could just come to take advantage of the dog training area. This is an off-leash area set up just for you to teach your dog commands. It is open all year long. If you would like, you could even camp here at Fleming Park! There is running water available for you to use while you are here, but you will need to pack your own poop bags.

Blue Springs Dog Park is a two-acre natural area that is fenced in so that your dog can play off his leash for a little while. While you are here, you can enjoy the nature preserve located right behind the park. There is even a lake to walk around. You do need to bring your own water as there is no running water on the property. There are trash cans throughout, but you will need to remember to bring disposal bags. All of this fun is only about fifteen minutes from Buckner.

You should come down to Three Dog Bakery. Yes, it is a half-hour drive from Buckner. However, it is one of the few places where you can bring your dog to pick out their very own stuff. From doggie birthday cakes to everyday food, you will find a huge selection of organic and healthy options. Bring your dog with you, as long as she stays on her leash, so that she can sample the good and you can feel good about the treats she is getting. They have more than just stuff to eat; she can get spa treatment or even a new toy or two while you are here!

Stockdale Park is an amazing little park that has everything your dog could want. There are three acres which are fully fenced in so that your dog can get off of his leash and play with the balls available here. Most of the pet owners are happy to take turns throwing balls for all the dogs. There is water available, too, so all you need to bring are doggie waste bags. If you are looking for a good sized dog park that has pet owners who really care, then look no fur-ther! Please remember that small child are not allowed to play in the fence. This is about twenty miles from you.
