South Calumet City
South Calumet City is a residential neighborhood on the south side of the city. The area is usually pretty quiet, with a serene dog-walking park. The park is called Veterans Park, and is located right along the Little Calumet River. Inside, there are two baseball fields, a playground, a picnic pavilion, restrooms, and fenced-in tennis courts. Dogs can run around on the tennis courts, or run around in the open space around the baseball fields, and have access to water fountains, benches, and trash bins. Finneran Park is another dog-friendly park in the neighborhood that provides residents with fresh green lawns, paved walkways, and shaded sitting areas. Leashed pups can enjoy a playground, picnic tables, a picnic pavilion, water fountains, clean-up stations, and benches.36
Wentworth
The neighborhood of Wentworth is an upscale residential area near the city's downtown area. Right in the middle of the community is the Wentworth Woods Forest Preserve, which provides a nice private and open space to run around with your pooch. Calumet City Prairie and Marsh Nature Preserve is on the north side of the neighborhood, and has a large protected area which offers marshland and prairies.
