Canonsburg Town Park is a neighborhood that contains the actual Canonsburg Town Park, a community park. Which came first? You can puzzle about it while walking your dog down the park’s beautiful walking trails. Though they’re not long enough to qualify as a hike, these wooded paths are a great way to let your pet’s nose, ears, and eyes explore while still keeping her on leash. Sniff out squirrel trails or roll in the grass! These paths are set back from the main park area, allowing you to feel like you’re out in nature. Humans will also find plenty to do at the park, which includes a playground and picnic area!

Archer Street
The North Strabane Park is tucked away in the small residential neighborhood of Archer Street. The park’s main draw is a large play complex for kids. If you have to work out some energy from your furry friend and some children, walk laps around the play equipment while they have a blast! This park is also a great, convenient place to get in a quick walk in the morning or evening. It’s busy on the weekends or right after schools let out, but otherwise this smaller park doesn’t see the traffic of some of Canonsburg’s larger parks. Great for shy dogs!

North Strabane Hills
The North Strabane Township Park has a very similar name to another park in Canonsburg, but they’re miles away from each other. This park is built for a day out in nature with your whole family! Pack your own doggie bowl so your pup can take advantage of the fountains. This park has several shaded pavillions for hot days! There is also a playground for children and plenty of green grass space for playing sports, spreading out the picnic blankets, and relaxing in the sunshine. Your dog does have to stay on leash in North Strabane Township Park, but there’s still plenty to do.

The Peters Lake Park in Giant Oaks is a must see in the Canonsburg area. Load up your dog and hit the park! This park has a lake in the center and is popular for fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. Your dog has to be leashed in the park, but wading is allowed! This park is a getaway from all things urban. Splash in the water, relax on the beach, or hit the walking trails! Peters Lake Park has woodchip walking trails that are easier on joints (yours and your dog’s!) than cement. Just be on the lookout for splinters and bring your own water!

Head 15 minutes down the road from Canonsburg and you’ll hit Elm Grove Park in the Thompsonville neighborhood of McMurray! Canonsburg’s neighbor is a great place to take your dog for a day of fun in fresh air. This beautiful park has picnic grounds and a children’s play space complete with soft turf and a playground. Your dog will love to walk the paths through the park, and they’re short enough that you can easily set your own pace for your own distance. A high energy dog and a calm one will both have fun here!
