Canton is a city in Madison County, Mississippi, just north of the capital. Although Canton isn't as historically significant as some of its neighboring cities, it’s still a furrific place where you can learn and sniff out a lot! The courthouse and the courthouse square are the most prominent and beautiful places in the city. This historic venue comes complete with a shopping district and a seasonal flea market.

The city has no parks to walk in with Fido, but you can always travel to the campgrounds on the banks of Ross R. Barnett Reservoir in Jackson. Jackson is also the perfect place to find a vet!

Spend the whole day out in Pearl River State Wildlife Management Area, especially if you are into hunting! Check the rules and permit requirements before visiting, though. It’s a great place for hunters to train their loyal pups. If you don’t want to hunt, that’s fine -- however, you and your buddy will need to wear day-glo orange vests during your time in the park. While you're here, you can sniff and explore your surroundings. There aren't any walking trails, but you and Fido can tread your own path in this expansive terrain!
