Black Balsam Knob
Natural beauty is plentiful in these parts, but if we had to narrow it down to one mutts-see attraction, it would be Black Balsam Knob. The turnoff for the mountain is on the famous Blue Ridge Parkway, dubbed “America’s favorite drive", making the trip double the fun (but it always is for Fido)! The bald peak lends to panoramic views that some say are the best in the Blue Ridge Mountains. There are several trails to explore and many campsites for dogs looking to prolong their stay. Furry campers who are uninterested in having roasted hot dogs (again) can travel back down the mountain to grab some grub at the Jukebox Junction Restaurant. This classic diner has dog-friendly picnic tables in the back and is open from 7 am to 8 pm every day except Sunday (when it closes at 3 pm).
