Carmel Town Center
The Carmel Town Center is home to the Paul A Camarda Park, with its 36 acres of active and passive park area. Featuring a playground and sports fields for the humans, this dog-friendly park also offers walking paths just made for relatively short walks with your fur-pup! Surrounded by woods, the trees offer respite from the mostly sun-drenched fields and lawns. The walk takes you back down the access road to the park where you’ll find a bench and a path back up and around the perimeter of the park for about 20 minutes. A nature trail with interactive markers is in progress, but the walk across the meadows and through the perimeter trees is a pawrfect way to spend some outdoor time with your furry bestie and family!

Patterson Town Center
The
dog-friendly Cranberry Mountain Wildlife Management Area resides in this
neighborhood of Patterson, a town adjacent to Carmel. This is a 450-acre preserve on the mountaintop
that features a network of trails and several types of natural areas: ponds,
forested trails and open fields. The trails are open but unmarked, 4 miles in
total and looped. Hunting is permitted during designated seasons in the
preserve so be sure to research dates and bring along blaze orange garments for
both you and the pup if you decide to venture in during those times. As this is
a mixed-user trail, you might also encounter, along with the birds and
wildlife, mountain bicyclists, too. This is a barktiful and paw-inspiring park,
so come soon!

Mahopac Falls
The town of Mahopac is Carmel’s nextdoor neighbor to the west, and its Mahopac Falls neighborhood is where you’ll find pup-friendly Sycamore Park, which boasts 32 acres and is home to a dog park. Besides its active recreation facilities like softball and baseball fields and a playground, the park has walking paths dotted with benches and trees. The fenced off-leash dog park has separate sections for large and small dogs, plus lots of play and agility equipment to keep the canine members of the family busy socializing and exercising! When you’re finished, head over to the concession stand for some refreshment or grill up some pawlicious grub at the picnic area. This is a family- and dog-friendly park, for sure!

Mahopac Town Center
Dog-friendly Volz Park in the Mahopac Town Center features 15 acres of undeveloped land that is open for free-reign play and walking with your unleashed pup. The park is not fenced in, so be sure to keep a close eye on him. From this park, you will get furbulous views of Lake Mahopac, with birds and small mammals to keep you and your fur-pup company! The beautiful iron and stone gates welcome you to lush meadows and trees, just southwest of downtown. Don’t miss this natural and relatively untouched parcel of land while it is still undeveloped for a great experience for you and Fido! Woofderful!

This neighborhood in nearby Danbury in Connecticut is home to the Farrington Woods Park, with 192 acres of open space and trails, and a great pond for paddling a canoe or kayak with your fur-pup. The hiking trails are ripe for exploring, wide and mainly easy, although there are a few uphill climbs. Featuring 3 overlook areas and 6 separate but interlocking dirt trails totaling 11 miles, how long you and your fur-buddy spend here is totally up to you! None of the trails is especially long, but you could easily cobble together a longer walk. The deeply wooded trek that edges near some ponds also feature a pawsome gorge and waterfall, Be sure to visit this one! It’s pawrrific!
